Can I do any better than a loaded with my funds?

I really want a second M1A to keep company to my pre-ban standard. I can afford a loaded but that's the top of my budget. It doesn't appear I can get much more rifle for the money right now. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new one before the money goes to reloading.

A loaded is what $1700 now. Look right to the PX for a Glenn Nelson SM. It says he'll part with it for 2k. Hell I'd have bought it already if I had it.

I think you'll really like a Loaded. Great rifle for the money in today dollars. Buy one now before they raise the price again.

i sure like those 7.62 rifles being made in ohio, then again when i try to narrow down what i want my brain goes to mashed potatoes! you've got alot on your plate.
if you already have a sa m1a why not look into some of the higher end used rifles; mebbe you'll get a good deal.

The catalog listing is largely irrelevant to these rifles. The value or lack thereof is in how skillfully and with what parts they're built. Hit the pawn shops, online auctions, web sites like this one and CMP's, exercise a little patience, learn the firearm, you'll fins a keeper at a fair price.

It's a pricy hobby to have.

What works for me, go to a gunshow - like Tulsa and just watch the door of one to come in the door off of the street. Pawn shops work too. And certain gun shops. (Some gun shops and pawn shops use gunbroker as a base, and then pick the highest price that they can find, and then add 30% on top of that. Or so it seems....

As mentioned above with that kind of cash you can get something pretty sweet in a used rifle. I'd go that route myself. Good luck.

Don't know your budget but I just bought a Loaded in the box for $1550.

Look for a seller on GB called "supohunter". I gave $1375 for a Loaded Walnut stocked NIB in August of last year.

Here's a couple of deals that sold very quickly, before I saw them:

http://www.gunsamerica.com//95780962...match.htm?wl=1

This one appears to have been a steal:

http://www.gunsamerica.com//95172894...zine.htm?wl=1#

So they're out there from time to time. But you have to be ready to pull the trigger on them or someone will outdraw you!

I know you dont live in texas, but here some listing on weapons. Maybe you can work out something with the sellers. Texasguntrader.com

A national match for 1900. you may be able to talk him down too.

http://www.texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=179213

Heres another "NM" for 1400. Id look more into it, but its not uncommon to find good deals on this site.

http://www.texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=178858

This one may be a rack grade M1A
http://www.texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=176524

Heres a good looking Armscorps for 2200

http://www.texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=178874

I bought my sig 229 though this site. its all private sale, unless a vendor is putting his/her products online.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Buy used

Look for a pre-owned. For $1700 you should be able to find a loaded or better with some GI part's.
