Don"t know about this being a post for accuracy but I didn't want to sh!t on someones For Sale post. Anyone know if this receiver is interchangeable with GI parts or will it need major work to complete the rifle?

Pretty sure the CAI receivers are cast,(not that that's all bad) and if you ever want to shoot in a CMP JCG match you will be out of luck.

Not worried about matches. Just wouldn't mind a complete rifle at a reasonable price. Anyone know how much it would take to complete the rifle?

CAI recievers can vary in quality for what its worth you can get a stripped reciver from CMP for about $185 reparked and ready for your parts kit. Not sure I would mess with CAI as a start for rifle rebuild.

The barrel might be more interesting then the receiver. With all the stuff left over from WWII they probably didn't make many replacement barrels in 49. This was before the demand for the Korean War.

CAI receivers can be an UNBELIEVEABLE PITA to even get them to function SOME of the time. Century Arms had so many of these receivers that would not work, that they stopped selling them, cut their losses and sold off all the Garand parts years ago.

My Advice. Do not walk or run from a CAI receiver becaus you can't get away fast enough, RATHER you should get in your car and break the speed limit getting away from one.
