Kel Tec RFB

First, I hope I selected the right forum, but I think the RFB falls into the All Types category.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the new Kel Tec RFB? It looks very interesting, and until I saw one I never thought I would want a bull pup style rifle. The action is so well enclosed that I think I might actually want to shoot one. Never much liked the idea of the action being that close to my head. However, the weak point of the RFB action is at the bottom where the magazine connects, so that is the most likely direction for any blowback.

It is definately a rifle that needs a scope, as the sight radius is only about ten inches. Think flip up, back up iron sights would also be needed.

If it has good reliabiltiy it might make a good SHTF weapon, compact with lots of firepower and decent range. Might also make a nice hunting rifle for the thick woods. I know my 24" rifle barrel always finds things to snag on in the forest.

Down side, is $1,850 retail price, plus scope, mounts, and back up sights, means I could have bought another M-14, a nice high end one form LRB.

I want one so bad I can almost taste it. Now that they are being featured in Shooting and American Rifleman mags this month, they’ll be even harder to find because of the exposure. They are hard to find and online dealers are getting premium prices. BTW, my local gun shops are quoting me $1,300 and upper change, but not available to them through their distributors yet.

I do not have any experience with the RFB, but I do have a lot of experience with the Steyr AUG, a Bullpup. Also I have shot one of the AK47 Bullpups a fair amount.
So my comments apply to the bullpup concept.

In short, [pun not intended] it is a pretty good concept. It makes the rifle very handy, shooting, carrying, and also transporting, especially in a vehicle.

I hunted and killed 2 deer with my AUG, as well as shooting prairie dogs [I had the Special reciever fitted with a 4x scope for the P'dog hunts].

For many years the AUG was one of my favorite 223/5.56 rifles.

I used one for a work gun for a while too.

I did not notice, nor was I concerned, about the reciever being near my face.

This includes the Barrett Bolt actioned 50 BMG's and the Desert Tactical bullpup type rifles I have shot.

Rfb

howdy. I have had 2 but never shot them.
Was offered quite a bit more than waht I paid so dollars won out.
First off very solid rifle. Uses standed FAL metric mags. But do need some good sights. If you have seen other Kel-Tec rifles there is no camparison.
Those suck such as the 223 rifle they make. The RFB is one outstanding rifle and seems well balanced.
Now if Kel-Tec would just start making more of these then price would come down and I DO want to get another and maybe keep it.
Best I can do on info.
There is a guy making cheek rests now for it and they look like they will owrk good for the rifle. I remember when he did a prototype and had to do some mods to it but looks good to go now.
Definately will help with aiming if you have the rest.

Get one if you can but don't pay over $1500 for it.

My .02 worth.

Stac
