| A Little Help
See if you can find a copy of Doug Murray's book "The Ninety-Nine, A History of the Savage Model 99 Rifle." The 75th Anniverssary model is descibed on pages 3-72 and 3-73. According to Murray, the rifle was made in 1970 and sold for $195.00. All were chambered in .308 and had 24-in tapered octagon barrels. Murray also states that Savage only made 10,000 of the rifles. They too had straight butt stocks with brass crescent butt-plates, schnoble tip forearms, and were engraved "Model 1895" on both sides of the receiver. I hope this helps. Murray's work is about the only reference book ever published on the Savage 99 and it's too bad we don't have more written material on these great rifles.
