I have a "Buffalo Bill" model '94 commemorative in 30-30. I used electrical tape to attach a Lee Shaver tang sight to it and put a lyman 17a on for a front sight. Looked pretty funny. Shooting cast bullets (311284) to 500 meters off of crossticks we were hitting the rams fairly often but rarely knocked them over. I don't recall the load but I was surprised the gun would shoot that well. One of the guys at our cast bullet silhouette match has shot a remington 788 in 30-30 for years and he usually knocks over the rams but I have no idea of his load, but I believe you are asking about the lever gun.

If you are serious about maximizing a lever rifle's accuracy get Rifle Accuracy Facts by Harold R. Vaughn. Lots of good info and techniques. The book isn't just about lever guns, but there's info I've never seen anywhere else about this action type.

I have a Heym model 26B O/U in 30/30.

I have taken several deer/ wild pigs and turkey with it, as well as 3 coyotes.

My longest shot was on a coyote, lazered at 166 yards, with Hornady Lever Evolution 160gr ammo.
Coyote was DRT.
