.35 Remington, Fun Plinker

These lever guns are just to cool to sit around. So I put on some Williams peeps, tall front sight, with a mauser hood, and made some rounds up that are fun to shoot. Instead of full house 200 grainers, I stuffed some 158gr. XTP's.
Now it shoots like a .357 mag and is very nice to shoot at the range all day.

What is the specific load? Any fillers for reduced loads? I have a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington, and was looking to do the same thing.

Mike 7.62,
I developed two loads.
1.Bullet- Hornady 158gr.XTP 2.Bullet-Rainier 158gr.RN
Brass-RP Brass-RP
Primer-CCI 250 Primer-CCI 250
Powder-IMR4227, 27.0gr. Powder-IMR4227, 24gr.
@2150fps. @1900fps

Note: As always work your load for "your" gun up from the low side. No fillers are used, and the COAL=2.235" It work's for me. Safety for you! 27.3gr. is max load with a standard primer, I had no pressure signs with either load. I've been reloading since 1974, safely.
When I started out I figured I was making little bombs to set off in front of my face, I had better do it correctly!
Hope this helps you, Hot Brass

Thanks from Mike7.62 and boomerpusher

Thank you for that information. I will use it with the usual cautions. I have all the components except the Rainier bullet, but I do have other 158 gr. JHP's around. Thanks again.

Hey, Hot Brass, I too have a 336C Marlin in .35 Rem. Is that a Williams sight or what kind is it and where did you find it? Will try your loads (less 2 grains for start) and see what happens. Thanks for the information.

Boomerpusher,
That is indeed a Williams peep, plus you'll need a taller front sight. I did three lever guns at the same time. Different calibers, 45-70, 30-30, .35Remington. different bbl. lengths.(receivers different thickness)
So I can't rember each sight height for the front off the top of me head. Williams has info that will help for your specific gun. The trick is to get enough front sight so you can adjust the rear for zero where you want.
Hope that helps,
Hot Brass

Oh yeah I got the sight from, Brownells. Midway and others have them, price shop. Sometimes one bunch has a sale going on, the others don't. You know the routine.
