If your lucky like me an your wife can't decorate to save her life you should have a nice wood shop project on your hands. I'm trying to figure out how I want to mount a gun to my fireplace. I'm going with some old rustic wire hooks that look like they are from the 1900s. Trick is finding the right anchor points

What's the fireplace made out of? Stone, Brick? Wood mantel?

OP you could go with something like these:

I'd personally prefer one these below.
https://www.etsy.com/nz/listing/1606...a57-aspen-with
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1687192...-aspen-backing

All can be made if you're up to it.

Can't buy these any more, so wife and boys had this made... No, those are in a safe, have couple of nice wall hangers though.

Thanks. Some good ideas. But I ran it by the wife and won't be doing it in the living room.

Another option.

Put up 20 M1A's on the wall.

Wife was reading this over my shoulder...... she said it would be cool to do an "accent wall" with long guns. I thought she meant PAINT guns on the wall, like shadows of different guns. She looked at me like I was a retard, said "What Im I, freakin Martha Stewart? Im not painting all that! NO.... ACTUAL guns." Rather than painting stripes on the wall...... cover the wall in rifles and shotguns, like in diagonal lines.

Anybody got a bunch of "junk" long guns they wanna get rid of?

So cover your wall in a wallpaper print made of the bottom half of this picture and then mount your real gun on top of it. You'll be the only one who knows where the real gun is. Hidden in plain sight type of thing...

Buddy of mine posted this on facebook the other day:

Nice and drool worthy.

Some are gun shops and Cabela's fine gun rooms but most are home gun rooms.

Some examples:
