Why a Ruger #1 in 45-70......

I have a #1 in 280 Remington, very accurate. The straight grip on the guide gun is not comfortable to me. I have no problems with a single shot hunting rifle, I have an LRB M14 for serious work. I live on 100 acres, 60 wooded, and step out my door and start hunting. I would love to find a Ruger Bisley 5" BBL in 45 Colt with adjustable sights, too!

I live in an rural area with about 80 acres surrounding my property. can do the same. have a 200 yd range from my front porch 300 if I shoot across the front yard. Wife and kids not home for that one. 8O

ordered the XS sights yesterday, can't wait to get them installed on the GG. :D

Still waiting for my 18 1/2" poly to get back from the smith. Need to get them both dialed in before gun season starts. should have enough time to work the loads and sights out before then.

My first Guide gun I installed WildWest Guns rear peep. Build like a tank. Problem was I was pushing fifty and the front sight was not far enough out there. Sold the ported gun and bought a stainless non ported and installed a 1x4 Leupold. Never looked back. Oh yeah, if you have big hands check out the DRC custom lever. Worth every penny!

Do you have a link for that DRC lever? My guide gun bruises the knuckle on my middle finger, have to leave it out of the loop. any suggestions? I've seen the cowboy action guys wrap leather in this area/ does it help?

I got the XS sights mounted on the lever gun but have been playing with my Poly that I just got back from the smith.
My hunting buddy ordered the same set up + the xs rail for his guide gun. his is in 45-70 and we plan on dialing them in this weekend.

6" dinger open sights at 100 yds. My trigger finger already itching. :D
HOG bustin' seaon is almost here.

Brownell's carries them, and also the slightly larger Wild West Guns version:

Brownells is were I purchased mine. No bruised knuckles and gloved hands fit. I thought the WildWestGuns lever was overwhelming in size.
