Falling Skies series.

I have seen an EBR and a wood stocked M14 already and I've only seen 45 minutes of the season premier.........

Alien invasion, civilians banding together to form a resistance, right up my alley......

Yeah, the premiere looked good. Hope the rest of the series keeps it up and doesn't turn into another "Jericho"-type soap opera...

I agree with yall. I thought the premiere was good. I hope they actually do something worthwhile with this storyline. What amazes me is that almost everyone was packing, whether civilian or "fighter". List of guns I remember seeing: M14 as mentioned above, M1 Garand, Lee Enfield #1 MkIII SMLE, Various AR15,M16, M4, M4orgeries, HK MP5, HK G36 shorty,Wood stocked FAL,Various AK's fixed and folders,FN MAG ? 308 MG,Single Action Colt Peacemaker Clone?; "Ma Duece" M2 Browning .50 cal on pintle mount, Mini 14 old style with unprotected front sight, Remington 7600 or 7400 couldn't tell for sure, and many more I couldn't quite identify. Yeah, I like guns.

I missed it last night but just caught a replay on the web. I notice in addition to all the firepower, it had the requisite hot young babes toting guns. Now we're talking.

So-So acting, lame directing, too much interpersonal BS between any real action.
Unbelievable amount of firepower....and trigger-finger discipline wasn't bad along with lack of apparent "barrel sweeps".

Not much to really recommend beyond "it had the requisite hot young babes toting guns. Now we're talking."

I guess time will tell as to whether it turns into another Jericho or not. But really, what's not to like about M14's and illegal alien invaders from Mexico, ooops I meant space... ;)

Is it just me or do you guys notice the number of TEOTWAWKI movies and TV series and documentaries lately? 2012, Battle LA, Falling Skies, The Walking Dead, V (re-make), and others I don't remember. Seems like someone's trying to tell us something? ;)
OTOH, I thought that "FS" wasn't to bad, but there was a few things that did get to me. The seeming requisite full-auto firearms, especially the AK the lead was carrying and their lack of fire control. Where did a FA AK come from in frigging MASSACHUSETTS???? Reverse smuggled from Mexico? 25-30 feet from an "armored" alien and you're on full??? Please! Frontal shot, close range...go for the eyes! I seriously doubt they're armored.
I realize we are the minority in the audience they're trying to reach but please let's get someone that knows what's real to be a technical advisor to a show like this. Heck, they've got Pat Dye; pick his brains!!!

P.S. Anyone know when "World War Z" is due to be released?

M1A was the main weapon in tonights show, even though the guys couldnt shoot worth a crap with it.

Glad to see a real rifle in a series where everyone is shooting tic-tacs (M4's) or sheetmetal garbage (AK)....

My bug out bag has an M1A in it......

Yeah, wifey was annoyed that i was grumbling about it while it was on, i kept saying something like:

"seriously...you have an M1A in cover AND concealment at less than 100yds, and complete surprise....you have 6 jerks with poodle shooters in the open...it isnt even a contest, those 6 guys are DEAD in 10 seconds flat"

or something to that effect...

while i didn't watch the new episode last night, (its on DVR) i must say that the series does get you wondering, the sad part is that i felt that there should be more gunfights involved, and that the realities are different then in the series.

In reality i would have ordered my men to shoot the kids with guns, because i know the aliens would be watching, they were testing these men to see what mankind is capable of. Now for Hollywood sake they magically got the out, but in reality the aliens would more or less would have marched the kids right into the building.

but hey war is hell, and in reality and ideally are different.

despite tis i do watch the series and i am into it, i just wish that they would have armed them with a better assortment of "realistic" weapons. I understand that the military is gone for the most part, and they raided the arms depo, but come on, AK-47's REAL ones?, where did they get them did they drive to Camden and buy it for 2,000 bucks?

this is why the series is NOT as realistic as hoped, but i still watch it because it is still interesting to watch and see how events unfold, i admit the opener was great, and then it slowed down, but now it picked up, and if you get into it then great, if not well then it was not your cup of tea then/

To us "gun guys" there will never be a "real" series unless it's actual combat footage.

We simply know too many details about guns, capabilities, and proper use, to enjoy ANY gun scene misconstrued by holly-weird in a movie or series.

I think we should all be glad there is a series based on self sufficiency, defense of innocents with guns, and banding together to repel invaders. Lets all learn to appreciate it for what it is, hell it's better than all the sitcoms where the wives talk down to their husbands who are all portrayed as blithering idiots....or the endless cop dramas, or American idol.....

Food for thought...

Thanks from luigi and ersterderfaellt
