SAD news from "The Gunny"

Hi All. I don't post much but thought this was important. I was at the SHOT show last week and had the priveledge of meeting R. Lee Ermey "The Gunny." He was signing posters and taking photos. He told me that the History Channel is not renewing his "Lock and Load" show this coming season. He said it is the highest rated show on their channel but expressed his feelings that the powers that be on the History Channel are anti-gun (although he didn't say it as politely as that). He asked that I get on the History Channel's website and "bitch them out." I am very disappointed in the History Channel and will definately complain. Thought you all might want to do the same.

Thats because the history channel is too busy doing shows on logging, end of the world, how to drive on the ice and how to make purses then do shows on HISTORY which you'd think they would do. A once great channel IMHO over the years has become something I don't watch very often.

If anybody has a link to the History Channel I would like to express my extreme displeasure to them. I would not even expect a reply as most of them ignore us anyway, we have to many facts they don't want to hear.

Here ya go ...

I responded with the following:

Quote:
It has come to my attention that the program " Lock & Load with R. Lee Ermey " is not being renewed next season.

I suggest you re-think that decision, as it will severely reduce your viewing audience. Of course if ratings mean nothing to you in these difficult economic times, then by all means go ahead and cancel the show.

Respectfully,

I'm a little confused in that my comments went to A&E but I have contacted them in the past and the show that they cancelled is now back on the air. So we shall see. If I get an answer I will bring it here.

My message to them:

I understand that the program " Lock & Load with R. Lee Ermey " is not being renewed next season. This is a big mistake and I'm sure due to your anti-gun stance. Given that this country would most likely not be here if it were not for guns I respectfully request that you review your actions and stances. If you are going to respond explaining your anti-gun stance please don't bother.

Signed etc.

I hate seeing things like this, so i also posted a fiery fireside comment to A&E,a nd then got on the phone with my uncle in LA.

Having been a History Channel viewer for almost a decade and a half and having watch great programs come and go such as Mail Call, and Tales of the Gun im am also disappointed to see another good series come to an abrupt end.

I also understand A&E's distraught anti-gun nature, but this is about history, not some liberal news media. For someone who watches very little T.V. in this age of the internet your channel was on the top of my viewing list.

I suggest you re-think this decision, as it will severely reduce your viewing audience. Of course if ratings mean nothing to you in these difficult economic times, then by all means go ahead and cancel the show.

John J

I was trying to stay as calm as i could things like this really get me going, especially when i remember the older shows liek Tales of the Gun and Mail Call.

I've also noticed the downturn at History Channel, which used to air great shows like "The Color of War". Now it's Axemen and Ice-Road Truckers, which have zilch to do with History.
