Military Channel tonight had more Battlefield Vietnam, "Part 7: War on the DMZ"...events leading up to Khe Sanh, lots of good vintage footage of Marines still carrying M14s during '66 and '67.

last evening (6-14-08) on the history channel they had a show on , which challenged marksmen to complete challenges (ie trick shooting, TOT artillery strikes, 1000yrd shots, ect...). Anyway during a segement showing the improvements of rifles from smooth bore -> rifled and beyond they show a historian take out a water melon with a M14 (22" barrel, walnut stock, optics).

"Axes" episode airing on the History Channel. Apparently some soldiers liked to equip themselves with axes. Some brief Vietnam footage had M14s in it.

Who can forget the recruitment commercials with the U.S. Marine drill teams twirling their shinny M14's lined up opposite the Golden Gate Bridge?

I believe the Marines are using M1 Garand rifles in that commercial. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. |
