They said 200 yards... But 9" is pretty bad, especially since they shot it off bench.

I cant beleive that 9" and 7" from bullseye that was not a hard shot how does someone do that, especially with an M14. I make that kind of shot every range trip but with 2"-2 1/2" groups every time some people dont need to be on this show.
Good Shooting.

I can understand some of the shots if they were not used to military sights, but some of the worst shots were guys that shot on the service rifle teams...was'nt real impressed......

It looked like he just slapped the trigger when they showed him shooting. He didn't bother first squeezing the first stage and breaking the second. In fact, I don't think he was even touching the trigger before he jerked it back.

Didn't look like 200 yards, maybe 200 ft.

It dosen't realy matter how far it was, but for only 200 yards that is piss poor preformance. The center circle was 10" across(5" radius) if you cant get all your shots in that big of a circle that is terriable. I could do better with a mini 14, the M14 should have no problems at that range no bullet drop, and the wind wouldn't effect it at all if any at that distance.
Then again thats good that those 2 with the bad shoots got eleminated, because if they cant make that shoot they dont desserve to even be there.
Just my 0.02 cents.

Just my 0.02 cents. | Man.... those "shooters" need to check in here and read that excellent post on iron sights and grade4 math. The main thing that had me looking for an M1A was the reports of accuracy. Once I bought mine, I was lucky enough to find this site.
This forum has been providing me with info on what I need to do to prepare for my first range visit with my rifle. Hope the guys who appear on that show get some help. Sounds like they need it.

Something about this show has bothered me from the beginning. It seemed inconceivable that supposed "professionals" could be such consistently poor shots. I could almost imagine that something was going on behind the scenes. Were they given weapons with loose sights, out of spec gas cylinders, bent barrels, who knows? The silly drama of voting people off the teams aside, I stopped watching after a few shows because I considered most of the shooters to be sub-par.

mineralman, I agree, it's pretty weird. I wonder if the majority of them are just extremely nervous about being filmed? Maybe they're shaking in their boots, literally. Just because of the pressure of being filmed.
The drama is just so hard to watch. I haven't watched since the season where the sniper (I can't remember from which branch of service) spearheaded an initiative to alienate one guy, instead of purely voting out the guy who shot the worst. That was pretty much it for me.

could shoot at the local Arcade for a dime. You had to shoot out the
red star on the little taget paper, but the sights were way off so you'd miss
every time. I would shoot a quick shot to figure out my Kentucky windage...
