I watched and at least one of the commentators made two statements that made me think he was talking out of his butt and was not an expert on the M14. He said that SA made the most M14s and he latter stated that the government had let out new contracts for new M14 rifles.

thats what I was thinking when he said that. wasnt quite what I was hoping for but that show never really goes into detail on its featured guns and just gives the most basic info for people who know nothing about the gun

It was also stated by the narrator (Mark Keefe I believe) that "the M14 was obsolete almost as soon as it was introduced." Mark is a shooter but obviously not a historian.

Then later in the segment the clamoring of the currently deployed military for "more M14's due to their superior range and power" was revealed. Yeah, pretty obsolete huh?

When I heard that armchair expert stating that the military had issued new contracts for new M14's it was more proof that these guys are morons.

That guy Phil Schreier who is now head curator of the NRA Firearms Museum stated on another show about the 1911 that it was so powerful "you could knock a man down with a .45 if you shot him in the little finger."

Hey Phil! Hyperbole is not an impressive quality in a man who is pretending to be a "firearms expert".

I was all excited to view the piece.....and frankly thought it was lacking. It seems all of these shows say "It is basically a garand, it had the shortest life span of any US military rifle, so lets talk about something else. The next hour will be about the M-16." ppfftt.

I did enjoy the piece on the MG-34 although it was superficial also.

I guess there is only so much that can be packed into a 20 minute show with AR and pistol sponsor commercials filling in the other 10 mins.

I was hoping for a little bit more too. Most of these shows do seem to be commercials surrounded by some light material. I still watch them anyway.
