Question 7mm Hand Gun

Okay.......here we go, my buddy at worked asked me a few questions today 4/10/10 about 7mm ammo. He asked if they have 7mm ammo available, and then I answered "sure" the gun shops have them........no problem.

What he did not tell me till the end of our day at work was that the 7mm ammo is for a hand gun. I said " What ya talking about Willis? " He says its for a hand gun. OK.........then I asked him, what is the manufacture? he could not answer me. He did not know. I then asked " Is it a 1911 Colt variant style hand gun? he then replied "yes". He has the clips for the hand gun.

Now I am dumb founded and never heard of a 7mm hand gun. I then replied " You sure not a 9mm?" Nope.

Long story short...........The question is " Is there such a hand gun that looks like a 1911 colt variant in 7mm or something similar to one?

Need to know

I do remember seeing a French manufactured 7mm pin-fire revolver years ago. Oddball design...leave it to the French.

IIRC, Star made some 7.63mm (a.k.a. .30 Mauser) pistols, and they resembled 1911's.

Tokarev TT-33

That why this is a great forum........quick responses and knowlegde of topic is awesome!!!

Ok......I think I believe the hand gun my friend at work has is a 7.62x25mm Tokarev TT-33 soviet pistol. By doing more research based on info above. Only way for to me confirm this is to actually see the hand gun in question sometime next week.

7.63x25mm Mauser (.30 Mauser Automatic) round

Russian Tokarev TT-33

Chinese copy of the TT-33 called the Type 54 with 7.62x25mm ammo

Its a long shot.....but might be this puppy. In regards to ammo?........I think I will have to say " Good luck " in getting the ammo locally.

IF any of the local stores carry much surplus ammo, there's a chance. There is a lot of surplus 7.62x25 around (maybe not locally, but definitely on the 'net), but most (if not all) is corrosive primed.
Both Wolf and Privi make new ammo in that caliber, but finding it in stock locally???

7mm handguns

Just a couple I found here:

7mm Penna

7mm Remington
http://www.gunsinternational.com/Rem...n_id=100328467

I did find that most 7mm pistols were foreign made.

Cheers,
Ed

Guns Illustrated 2010 has picture of a STI-QS prototype pistol chambered in 7x23. One type of ammo has a 15 grain aluminum bullet zipping at 2800 fps and another, a 70 gr. bullet at 1400 fps. It states that the aluminum bullets discourage over-penetration.
