They are all about the same the key is your grip and technique.

IMHO it should be more about size and reliability than anything else.

Awards Showcase

I carry Beretta .45's, both the PX4 and the mini Cougar. The rotating barrels are very accurate. I always qualify with scores in the high 90's, even with the Double Action Only 6 lb triggers.

that question can only be answered by the person shooting the weapon.each individual
shoots differently. i love a colt 1911,but i can do better throwing it at the target in a rapid fire situation.
i get a glock 9mm in my hand,i do love the triple tap.never miss. each individual needs to find what works for you.

A 1911 has the advantage of having the best trigger design every conceived. Since trigger control is the single greatest factor affecting real world accuracy, a match grade 1911 is, in my opinion, the most accurate self defense pistol. There is a reason that many elite military and police units still use 1911's. Of course, a 1911 isn't for everyone. I characterize them as weapons for professionals.

I suspect that with pistol, technique and fit are 90% of accuracy, rather than the inherent accuracy of the pistol.

If the Glock does not fit your hand right, try several others to see what gives you a comfortable and natural grip. A second benefit of this approach is that no matter what you settle on, it will be less ugly than the Glock.

The person behind the trigger plays a huge part in handgun shooting, that being said my preference has always been Sig, I carried a P229 for years on duty and loved it's accuracy, I picked up a P320 Compact when they first came out and love it, accuracy is spot on.. Down fall is concealability, my everyday carry is my Kimber SOLO DC with CT laser grip, it drops in my pocket in a custom pocket holster my buddy made and conceals well.

Art, you are correct. With a pistol, the skill of the shooter is a huge factor. However, once a shooter masters the basics and is proficient, the hardware becomes the limiting factor. Most pistols today have decent sights so sight alignment and sight picture are pretty much a none issue for a skilled shooter. That leaves trigger control which is by far the biggest factor. 1911's have inherently the best trigger design available so it is very hard to equal a good match prepped 1911 and it is virtually impossible to beat it. Of course, when it comes to individuals, they are most confident with what they are use to shooting and confidence plays a big part in the game.

CZs...Sigs.

Pick you poison. Too close to call. To me...the only difference is the budget.

Where I live, defensive incidents are usually @ 20 ft range.
Also, weapons used for self defense here are confiscated, never to be seen again, even though I was legally defending myself.
Liberal judges won't even allow a request for return of property.
So reliability and cheap, disposable are part of the equation, and accuracy for me @ 20 ft is good enough with a Glock G30.
Frank
