I always had problems eventually with the barrel to cylinder clearance, the original Monson Mass used a thread that seemed tapered and proprietary and eventually you had to send them to the factory.

I was a revolver addict and I was in love with interchangible system. It was not in love with me.

I can once remember sending in a .44magnum with the left hand threads buggered and they said I'd been using reloads. I had not- I had been using hunting and target grade ammo(not wad cutters, just factory hot loads- Norma, Remington, Winchester).

They told me at one point not to leave a barrel in my .357 set. Well what the heck do I need it for ? I kept it under my bed in my house in Alabama for defense ?

I loved their 1911 line.

I eventually got into JP Sauer single actions and the only one I keep now is a .44 Magnum. A blank will typically put a prowler into a stance of, "Good bye".

I had a .357 Model 15... at the end of the day I finally figured out the cylinder wasn't square, so it depended on which cylinder chamber you shimmed the barrel up on whether or not it would spit lead.

My .41 Dan has sort of the same problem, but not as bad. I do shim it up, then give it a wee turn in to tighten it up just a tad more, and it's usually OK.

I've never heard of the 'don't let it set' problems, even over on the DW forum, and I've never had problems with my barrels freezing or what have you.
