I must respectfully disagree that the whole pistol is marginal, especially considering the price of these. Mine is breaking in nicely and shoots very well and will feed Speer Gold Dot HP's fine.
Understood and good to hear. However, it won't hold a light to my current 1911's and I don't expect it to, and really could careless if it did. It will have a purpose......the issue 1911's I carried were truly "loose as a goose" but performed for what they were needed to do....and that wasn't feeding HP.......nothing but hard ball, as the issue 1911 is intended to do.

Can't wait for my Boy to see what I had to qual on......and learn to do it the same as I did, to some degree......also my wife.....who has been spoiled with my guns and her LE issue P226.....shes good, but wait until she tries this little diddy......this aint my custom builds with Videcki triggers and BOMAR/Novak sights.....; )

Thanks from M14E2

Let me know and I'll take a ride out with my genuine 1943 USGI Remington Rand.

What would be the point of making "fake" magazines that are already available at bargain basement prices? Usually crooks only go to the trouble to fake something if there real money to be made on a hard to find item, something a bit more rare than the millions of GI mags out there. I don't get it.

Nor would I expect it to keep up with a $1500 STI Lawman or any number of similar high end pistols, but I think for what it is, it seems to be a pretty good pistol.

That was my point.......it is a "pretty good" pistol.....which is "marginal".....it's all relative to the intended purpose.

That would spoil us all......not the fact a Rand was in the house, but a Brother Master of Disaster Ordie!........this will need a night of Ordie bonding, a day of recovery, and then a day at the range.....IYAOYAS!....; )

Think back the last 8yrs and the mag price/panic. The prices for genuine USGI anything is way higher than the price for anything made in China. Same with M-14 mags. Probably millions were misrepresented as USGI for sky-high prices , and people bought them.

Odd thing was the fake USGI mags were also offered in stainless , with the same base stamping/CAGE code.

Here's a fake , CAGE code is bogus. http://www.ebay.com/itm/USGI-Militar...IAAOSwx2dYIe1P

And the US never bought stainless 1911 mags. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1911-7-Round...AAAOSwajVUMv2b

Range work first! 1911s , M-14s (gotta bring that too!) and hangovers don't mix!

OK, that makes some sense I guess. You mentioned that RichD's mags from the CMP had similar packaging to fake mags. If the CAGE number matches a known maker, then how does one tell fake from real? I would assume the CMP is not selling fake GI mags.

Yep , that is a CAGE code used by Steen Armament Research Co (Sarco). Probably Vietnam era. They bought some other contractors tooling & inventory. I have some mags direct from Navy armories with that same code..

Interesting, I have two of these and have seen them for sale on line for about 10 bucks a pop. They work well in my AO pistol. Thanks!
