Got a newer SIG P229?

If you have a newer SIG P229 with a roll pin as the firing pin positioning pin, you may wanna contact SIG. If your firing pin positioning pin is a solid pin, no worries.

Possibly pertains to other models as well, but I cannot say for sure.

Rather not to a specific degree. I can say that a major Fed agency has SIG Armorer's working to replace the firing pin positioning pin in all of their affected weapons, including picking up the tab on shipping the firearms back and forth across the country.

Like I said, call SIG. All issues in the world ain't listed on the internet, and if they are, the first post had to start somewhere.

This is true and is being looked at by agencies that employ the 229. I don't know if it pertains to other pistols in the Sig family or not.

My 229 was a new production in late 2015 and has the roll pin, not a solid pin. Other than having incorrect sights installed from the factory, I have had no issues so far. Fingers crossed.

Sig, in their infinite wisdom, has replaced, what was the solid 2 diameter firing pin positioning pin, with a newer model tension pin, that is a little different from the older model carbon steel slides with the pinned in breech block, that utilized an outer and inner roll pin to serve dual purpose of retaining the breech block in the slide, and securing the firing pin into the slide.

See the included reference pictures... I don't know at what point they changed, the 2 diameter solid pin shown on the right, was first used when the milled stainless steel slides were introduced with the introduction of the .40 S&W into their product line.

My stamped/welded P226 has broken 2 sets of breech block roll pins FWIW. Only noticed because they were backing out. Not sure if this is a related issue to the new ones or not.

Roughly 8K first time, maybe 12K second. Replacement pins used to be cheap and easy to find but tricky now.
