Talking Thank you, John Wick

As some of you may know, I tend to subscribe to Boston T. Party's mantra that a handgun is simply a tool one uses to fight their way back to their rifle. However, as Matthew Quigley would say, while I may never have much use for a pistol, I'd never say I didn't know how to use one.

This past weekend my wife talked me into going to see John Wick, Chapter 2. (She has a thing for Keanu Reeves.) So we're watching the movie, and to whomever has not already seen it, there's a lot of shooting. So much so, it's almost a bit too violent for me, but I digress.... Without giving too much of the movie away, there is a scene where John Wick is presented with a Kimber 1911. At that point, my wife leans over and whispers to me, "Is that my gun?"

To which I responded, "Your gun? You don't have any pistols."

"You know what I mean... the one I was shooting before." At that point I realized that she was referring to her shooting a friend's 1911, shown below:
.

"No, honey, that was a friend's pistol. I don't have any 1911's."

"Oh. Ok."

So... that got me to thinking. I have held back on buying a 1911, primarily because I really don't need an additional caliber to load up on. But apparently my wife really liked shooting it, so why not?

Yesterday, when my wife came home, she had this waiting for her:

While it wasn't a Kimber, she was happy.

Nice choice! I am not a big Kimber fan...but I have had the SA GI for years and never had an issue. Better watch out as your wife will be out shooting you before long!

Thanks from Duce

Looks like an older Range Officer? I like the grips without the name on them.

I would rather have that than a newer Kimber, kimber has gone down hill in the last 4-5 years. And they will blame you if something breaks their CS sucks.

Duce, keep you eye on SG ammo they have great deals on ball ammo in 45 all the time.

Thanks from Duce

Yes, it's a Range Officer. This was a private sale, with the pistol originally purchased new from a store in early 2014, so at least a few years old. Is there a way to date it based off of SN?

Nice buy. I've got a few 1911's in the safe.

The John Wick movies inspired me to build this. Not for everyone, but I wanted something a little more "showy" than your standard Glock (which I have a few of).

I'd bet Springfield would tell you.

I also swapped out the mainspring housing with these items, as I don't like the lock in the stock one:

If one can hold their suspension of disbelief from the first moments until the credits roll, then yes. Otherwise, it's a bit over-the-top.

I suppose there's always that chance.... but like I said, I'm more of a Quigley man and prefer the long gun.

Let me know when you're going to be on the bands again. I haven't done any HF work since we last spoke.
