It makes sense to pass on Glock. Everyone knows in the desert heat a Glock turns into a Glop!

Nice. Let's let the adoption of a firearm for our military be controlled by the civil courts.

Maybe better that a stock Colt(which ain't say'in much), but not better than a well built, well tuned 1911.

But lets face it, with new polymer guns like the Sig 320, the new S&W 2.0s (even thought the Army did not choose them).
Glock is now old tech. they play catch up now and they are being left behind.

After a handgun has been in use for over 100 years I think the design speaks for itself. How many Glock fans will we see in another 75 years?

I used issued 1911 in pretty sandy/dirty conditions.......can't tell you how many times doofus students dropped them on range in sand/dirt during quals.....tough luck, pick up your weapon and continue the course of fire.

And that those were pretty dang old 1911's....loose as a goose slide to frame fit....for a reason. They weren't match grades hanging off our hips.

aside from a Sig P226/220 etc..., the 1911 is the most comfortable pistols to me.

That said.......wouldn't mind having that long optic ready slide Tupperware 10MM for pigs...; )

When perform a press check on a glock does it burp?

Thanks from High Hat and sandman2

I have three SIG 1911s and had two SIG P220s, and a SIG M11A1... and I still cary a Glock 19 for my everyday CCW. 1911s are great pistols when 7 rounds will do ya and you don't have to conceal. The SIG M11A1 was great until you fed it cheap ammo. The Glock? It just won't stop shooting. I never was a fan of the polymer/interchangeable SIGs. They felt cheap but I suppose time will tell.

Friends don't let friends shoot ugly guns.

Glock is a brick with a trigger. Let's have a little class in our military.

I am not a fan of a 1911. I love it for it's history, but it is a flawed design. No other gun requires that the first step after removing it from the box is to send it to a gunsmith to have it tuned.

But a 220! That is what we should carry.

PS, a 1911 is the most expensive gun I own. I dropped nearly $4k on a US Property marked USS in 97% condition. Sucks that the most expensive gun I own is one I will never shoot. I also have a 90+% Remington Rand, a nice Colt, and a nice Ithaca. I'm missing one .... that I will never afford.

Thanks from dwight55, High Hat and NATOBTHP

I apologize as I thought I understood this process, but I am not military directly (Dad and Brother are Navy). Is Glock hoping that by filing a complaint they will redo the trials or just give Glock the contract? I dont see why they should delay swapping out the Berettas for the Sigs, but I guess I do not understand this process like I thought I did.

I will put it this way! If you own a Glock you tend to like them. They work and that is the rest of the story.

Thanks from Wasted ammo

We never sent our 1911's to get tuned out of the box.....but then they were out of the box for over 70 years. Yes, I carried, used, and issued to others Remington Rands, Colts, Ithacas, and the Singer you must be missing......just pure issue pistols......flawed? hardly a hiccup in my career unless some limp wristed twit was on range. Tell ya what.....stand in front of the flawed 1911 loaded with 230gr ball we carried.....; )

Did we have expensive match grades? yes....but hell if I would carry one with the tight tolerances.....they were designed for targets not combat.

I do agree with your choice of the Sig220 however......we had Sigs in the armory as well...; )......but not 220....we had 226......under my headboard?...a 226R...; )

Thanks from High Hat and conditionone

It's not a civil court case; it's a simple action that any company involved in a particular government procurement can submit.

The Army's contracting agency will now have to review their whole acquisition process for this contract (request for information, solicitation, evaluation (testing, pricing, etc.), and all of its justification documentation for award to Sig).

Essentially it's an audit to ensure that everything was done by the book and that no mistakes were made. If it's determined that no mistakes were made, then they issue a response to the protest and then proceed with contract with Sig. If it's determined that mistakes were made (I'm a little foggy on this one as it's been a while), then the award of the contract may go to another company or, if serious mistakes were made, the whole acquisition process has to be redone.

Thanks from High Hat and Warowl
