Nothing really wrong with any of them, well as a collector 1911's go. Personally if I owned one I would only shoot it sparingly and with real soft loads. I wouldn't want too snap the snout off a slide and thus ruin a peace of history.

I'm probably overthinking this a little too much but part of me feels a little hesitant about that one since I'm not a Marine and I wouldn't want to make it seem like I was trying to be in any way.

If your into railed pistols, but then again there not the only game going with rails. And if that's what you want go for it its not a Marine only thing as I've seen a few at the range.

I don't want to hijack my own thread but if you had to choose between a 1911 and an Garand, which would you go with?

I know that this is an "apples and oranges" kind of question but I just found out that a friend is looking to put his M1 up for sale and it's tempting. My long term answer is "both" but I can only do one or the other right now

Get the firearm you don't have. Get the weapon you have been wanting for a while. You do that and you won't have remorse.
Get the 1911.

Good point. I don't have either right now but I can definitely say that I "want" the 1911 more than the Garand but that rifle is tempting me.

I rented a Springfield Loaded 1911 at a gun range today for an hour and I definitely liked the way it felt and handled. So, I'm definitely adding that one to my list of possible options.

I love my Para GI Expert. A buddy of mine owns a Ruger 1911;he swears by it. My uncle sent his Springfield back because he had so many problems with it. Your choice should be determind by your budget and what you plan to do with the weapon. All the choice listed would be excellent weapons.

Don`t flame me but as someone else mentioned the RIA is tough to beat for the money. I have two and I think they are great pistols. Also got two Colts and a Paraordinance but I shoot the RIA`s all the time.

Try the 1911 addicts page on here. They know everything about 1911s (probably because they are addicted)
