Inserting Photo Images (Tutorial)

There are two basic procedures for inserting photos into your thread/reply and I will attempt to cover both of these procedures in hopes that it may assist you if you should ever wish to add photos in your message(s).

PLEASE NOTE: By using this first procedure it will upload your images in the form of a thumbnail photo which can then in turn be clicked on to view the larger image. All individual photos in "this procedure" should be NO LARGER than 650 X 750 pixels. Otherwise you will receive a message that your photos are too big for the upload and they will not work.

This first procedure is accomplished by use of the "Attachment Manager" (aka Manage Attachments) which can be found in the "Addiitonal Options" box just below the Submit/Preview buttons where you are posting a thread or a reply ...

Click on "Manage Attachments" .....

This will then bring up a browse/upload box as seen below ...

As you can see we have made it to where you can upload three photos at one given time.

All you need to do here is to click on one of the "Browse" buttons and it will bring up yet another choose file box .....which shows you locations (i.e. desktop or files) where you have the pictures on your computer. By highlighting the photo icon (SEE BELOW EXAMPLE) and hitting the "Open" button and then closing it ..... This will then place that photo into the box to the left of that "Browse" button.

Then just click your "Upload" button at which time you will then see the message below....

If your photo has uploaded properly you will then see the below inserted...

Then simply CLOSE the attachment manger box by clicking the close button ...

Once you are satisfied with the other context in your message then simply hit your "Submit" button to enter your thread or reply and your photos should be there in thumbnail form (up to three thumbnails across).

Hope this will help you and if not please let one of the staff members know if you should need any additional assistance.

PLEASE NOTE: I will reply to this thread with the second procedure shortly.

Six Out!

The second procedure goes something like this for those of you who use a host for their photographs ... Such as photobucket which is commonly used by most here at the Firing Line.

Auto resize to board specs has now been installed and set at 600 pixel width (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE 650 X 750 SIZE FOR THE ATTACHMENT MANAGER PROCEDURE) for all photos so if your photo is larger than that there is no need to worry as the board will take care of this automatically ...

After uploading your photo(s) to an image host such as photobucket you should see something like this on your page(s) ...

Highlight the bottom IMG box such as this ...

Then right click on the highlight to copy such as this ...

Then go to your post and paste the photo into the text box ...

PLEASE NOTE: Do not insert (or paste if you will) your photos "side by side" but rather one on top of another as in stacking. To accomplish this all you have to do is to hit your "enter tab" on your keyboard at least once or twice AFTER each ENDING IMAGE TAG BRACKET ..... Like This One ..... [/IMG] ..... It also will give your post a much neater looking appearance if you have a space in between photos and text.

When your done hit your submit button and your photo(s) should then be viewable ...

If you should have any problems with this procedure please feel free to contact one of the staff and we will be glad to assist you further if the need arises.

Some times its rather difficult to explain how to do things on these boxes and these two procedures sound more difficult then they actually are to perform them but once you have done this a time or two you will be able to accomplish this in your sleep so to speak.

I hope that this small picture tutorial thread has been of help to those who may need it.

Thanks from PaulGman
