Where are the #10 caps-black powder

My new 1860 Army comes in tomorrow. I ordered it and the store was out of #10 caps so I thought I would drive to town and buy some. Got to town and the gun store was shut down so went to Walmart and they don't carry them.
Went on the net for the last 2 hours and everybody is out of stock or they are unavailable except for Gander Mountian and they want to charge me $200 shipping on a 10 can order.
Where are you guys getting your caps?
Thanks
Greg

Awards Showcase

Mail order isn't a good option due to hazardous material shipping costs.

I cant use #10's on most of my colt replica's, the nipples are to big and the primers wont push on far enough and the cylinder wont turn, so I use #11's and give them a little pinch to keep them tight. I ordered a tin of musket primers for my mortar from Dixie gun works and they through them in the box with the rest of my order and did not charge any hazardous shipping fee but I dont know if that was because I only ordered one or what.

I cant belive how much caps are nowadays, last time I bought them they only $2.50 a tin.
after a online search it seems nobody has any #10's and Dixie's prices are way too high.

Track of the Wolf, Powder Valley, Back Creek Gun Shop.

Caps need to fit correctly to avoid chainfire, if you find that yours are too tight or too loose,Track carries the good Ampco or stainless nipples.

I have had pistols that neither #10's or #11's would fit right, replaced the nipples and good to go.

Thanks for all the good info. I don't know anything about black powder and read on a couple of the web sites to use number 10s on the pistol I ordered so I guess I will have to find out if they will fit or not.
I will try these sites and see if I can find some. I didn't think it would be this hard to find ammo for these but I guess you live and learn.
I would buy local if I could find someone who sold them here. I can go to Okla. city but it is a 180 mile round trip.
Thanks again for the help.

Remington #10 caps usually fit Pietta nipples best.

If yours has trouble, most people find buying a set of Treso nipples sorts a lot of problems out.

Or you could try the new "Slix Shot" nipples... I may get a set.

BTW if you haven't watched Mike Beliveau's blackpowder vids, get on it. Lots of good info and fun videos to watch.

Thanks from gregaba
