Question Steyr M9-A1

I saw the latest Bond flick last night, Skyfall, and one of the guns in the movie was the Steyr M9-A1. Does anyone have any experience with these or know anything about them beyond what Wikipedia has to say?

There are a ton of review and shooting videos - even a suppressed one

Looks like another Glock-off pistol.

I have one with roughly 600 rounds through it without a problem, same basic take down like a baretta 92, the sights are a little funky and take some getting used to but over all not a bad gun if you dont want a more common gun like a glock, plus the way it feels in my hand is almost natural. i mainly bought mine to go with my AUG, ofcourse it should be a GB to match the era the AUG but oh well......

Held my friends and he loves shooting it. Something about the bore line and where it sits in line with your wrist makes it feel very ergonomic and reduces recoil making follow up shots very easy. I may pick one up for the giggles one day, but mags and parts aren't nearly as abundant as the major polymer guys out there.

Buddy of mine has one of the older models, with standard sights on it. I like the pistol very much. Points well, good trigger, reliable....what else do ya need?

I have owned a first generation M9 for the 8-9 years and I bought and new, M40-A1 this spring. Very fine pistols, excellent quality materials and craftsmanship.

I think the newer M40-A1 is possibly the most ergonomic and natural pointing pistol I have ever used.

If you're looking at the M9 (which is cool) check out the Caracal as well... same designer, same low bore axis, some upgrades.

Thanks from GARRARD and Ric2504

I had one...didn't like the trigger, so sold it. If that style of trigger is to your liking, try a Springfield XDm....much better trigger. Of course, the 1911 has the best, but the XDm has the better trigger over the Steyr or the Glock (in a plastic gun (IMHO)).

+1

I shot one a while back. It felt nice in the hand, but the trigger was HORRIBLE! Other than that it was a solid DAO type
Pistol. I am a fan of Steyr. The SBS pro hunter is the most accurate out of the box sporter-weight rifle I have ever fired. My Mountain Rifle will hold jus
A tick
Over .5 MOA at 200 all day, about .4 if I just shoot 3. Great trigger to boot! (at least it is once its properly adjusted)

I was afraid that trigger would be an issue. I hate the triggers on Glocks and XD's so I guess I wouldn't like this pistol.

My old roommate had one and it was a really nice pistol. Sights are different but the trigger was smooth and the way it sits in you hand is very natural. I plan on adding one to my collection soon.
