ALE is an entity unto itself and their reasoning baffles the rest of the LEO's in this state. Most of us local LEO types think it was so theyd have a cool pistol to go with their state badge.
As for other departments trading in for something else, thats up to them and the Boards of Commissioners they answer to. Maybe its wasteful, maybe it fits their budgetary needs, I cant speak for them, but I wont second guess something I'm not privy too.
Just say'n and I'm not trying to stir anything up, but consider ALE is a state agency, and they have alot more money to play with than a city PD like I work for.
Doing a little research and asking around other PD's that are using the weapons already would keep them from buying something that has problems. Having a "cool" gun at the range doesn't solve the problem of taxpayers having to fund the purchase. dozier

I own a Kimber Ultra Carry II and a Kimber TLE. Both have been fired alot over the past several years and they run just fine. I don't take them apart any further than I have to for cleaning and I haven't modified either one.

Thanks to all on this thread. I always liked the looks of the Kimbers at the gun stores and almost bought one a few times. Come to think of it, the first one I handled at the store I usually go to, the mag fell out once I lifted it off the counter. It was embarrassing though I was sure I hadn't touched the release. Made me feel like a goober, though.
