That thing is absolutely gorgeous!!! I am an absolute fool over all things 1911 and I have a pretty good assortment of them too. The most unique of them being a very nice first year of production Colt 1911 built in 1912 serial (811X). But sometimes during WW2 mine went back and was arsenal refinished and ended up with an 1911A-1 slide. I don't have any idea of how much that detracts from the value of it. But it really doesn't matter since I got it the hard way, when my dad passed away and I inherited his collection. Which means that it will never be sold while I am still alive and I will haunt both of my sons if either one of them sells any of our guns.

I've often wished that the good Lord hadn't made me so devastatingly handsome but a whole lot richer so I could afford goodies such as your Les Bauer.... :(

I have 2 nice Colt 1911A1s. I am thankful to have them but I want a highend 1911 one day. You have a super nice pistol. My day will come.

Definitely a nice score sir! I dig 1911s a whole lot. But I don't know how you guys carry them for CCW. I know they are pretty thin in comparison to lots of other guns out there, but those full size Government models are too darn long & heavy for me when it comes to a CCW gun. I am sure I will get flamed for saying this, but I wouldn't carry a 1911 for ccw ever. I will stick with my G26 thank you. Still awesome guns to own & shoot. And as a open carry field gun heck yes! Enjoy your new piece!

No flame from me on that. They are heavy. My 1911s pull my britches down if I don't wear suspenders. I carry one of them sometimes anyway.

Beautiful!

The Les Baer Custom Carry I got in December is very similar except for the thin grips and stainless finish. Kinda wish I'd asked for stainless after seeing yours!

+1mm on Les Baer being the best value among semi-custom 1911 makers. A little over 500 rounds down the pipe and slide-to-frame contact and lockup are perfect. Everything you need and nothing more.

Don't get me wrong for saying this. That is one very nice pistol, but you would think Les and Ed Brown for that matter would make a nicer looking roll mark for there slide. It kind of looks plain jane with just 45ACP. Heck you may have wanted that way. It is still one high grade/hand fitted gun enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Some of us like the minimalist look and don't like our pistols to be billboards. A lot of people order these and other brands with a "naked slide", no markings what so ever. IMHO nothing destroys the look of 1911 faster than big blocky billboards on the slide.

I've never been a huge fan of paying to advertise for somebody. It's kinda like paying big money to wear clothes with name brands plastered all over them... makes not sense. Not quite as bad with guns though, if kept simple and humble. Of course it does need to be marked somewhere for identification.
