Colt Python 4" Struggle Over I lost Pics up

I stopped by the local fun store Saturday. there was an old timer wanting to know what it was Worth. They Told him $11-12 hundred.
It is in Really Good Shape, The Original Owner. The bore had no pits but it did have green from copper. I am Pretty Sure he Never cleaned it.
I soon as I spotted he was wanting to Sell it Me being Me Spoke up and said Lets Step outside.
This afternoon He Stopped by My House Still No Original Box . After Haggling Back and Forth for about 20 minutes. I bought it. I paid a little more than I wanted But it's Done. $1125 with 38 Rounds .357 JHP, and about 300 rounds of Wadcutters.
From the bore looks like all he Shot was lead. I cleaned her up as best I can.
2 questions. recommend some Bore Cleaner to get the rest of the Lead out. I used Wipe Out in the bore for 2 hours and looks better. But it still has a Way to go
On the Cylinder there are Dark spots around the Ends of the rounds
How Do I get the Dark out or Do I
Well all I can say is I have Cleaned 60 year old M1 Garands with less Fouling in them
Perhaps I am just plain Ole Anal, But She Has found a Better Home and will be well cared for
Pics were taken in Macro Zoom

Do it. It's calling you. I have yet to come across the right Python. I have searched and searched. Any time I have had the coin I couldn't find one. Everytime I do find one I don't have the coin.

No struggle here. I'd have found away to buy it still standing in the parking lot. I won't have let that one get out of my sight.

Look at it this way. Your saving money. If it's as you describe it's easily a 1500-1800 dollar pistol in most parts of the country. Plus it's a Colt.

My wife bought me a 6" blued Python new in 1976. It's still beautiful and these revolvers are the creme of the crop.

I wouldn'e let mine go for less than maybe 1500-1600 bucks. IF I ever sold it.

1000 bucks for a 4" nickle is about right, IMO. If he has the original receipt (I do...) then it's definitely worth it. Not cheap, not a "bargain", but a fair price.

Get the S/N and see when it was made. Later Pythons are not quite as well-made as the early ones.

Do it and don't look back.

I had the same model and bbl length pistol about 17 years ago, and while going through some rough times in my employment situation, had to sell it to put groceries on the table. When I win the lottery, I am going to find another and another.

I have owned many wheel guns through the years and will state that the Colt Python was the best I have ever owned or held. Smoothest action in any revolver and accuracy was straight-as-a-string.

It will only continue to go up in value - this may be your only chance to snag one at such a great price.

Good luck!

Looking at it that way, I'd go for it. But personally, the nickel finish is more bling than I'd ever show in public on my Python.

I'm with you on that, I reallly don't care for nickel finishes, but that price on a Python, it would be hard not to buy it.

Some of you guys are nuts. Have you priced an original nickel finish Python lately? Over $1500 on Gunbroker. Buy it immediately and stop talking about it.

Consider it a free $500 on legs. Buy it, sell it. In my area, King Cobras are trading (not just asking and siting on the table show after show) for closing in on $1000, Pythons for a good deal more.
Just don't fall in love or the whole scheme falls apart.

go for it.

I bought 6inch blued ..serial # 2233 a few years ago. Looks like it was manufactured in 1953 or so. How would that one be made differently than the "custom shop" 6" blued one I bought 8 years ago....don't have it in front of me can't give the serial # but figure it was made in the 70's or 80's.

I have a 6-inch Python but consider the 4-inch the ultimate variation. You better get it.
