He lost me when he said revolvers are inherently accurate. I suppose compared to throwing the bullet at a target. But that's me being a rifle snob. From a technical stand-point, you still have a fixed barrel with often fixed sights that can be misaligned. The gas leak between the cylinder providing slight differences per shot. And that giant mechanical hammer and trigger, even cocked.
Revolvers are great at taking big heavy rounds that semis can't seem to handle. And being overall simpler. I don't think they're going away anytime soon.
Boring? As much as any gun is. I suppose it has a little less room for bells and whistles but so what.
Antiquated? Old, yes. Antiquated, no. Cheap and solid.
Stupid? I think most LEO organizations have gone to semi at the county level just because they hold more rounds, can fire successive shots more accurately and faster and can reload easier without cumbersome reloaders. They can just use clips. Yeah. Clips. For home defense, you don't need all that. I think they're pretty smart.

I have both a semi and a revolver and i love both
Kimber 1911 target model .45acp
S&W Model 38 .357mag
Good Shooting.

| His tone, cadence, and attempt at humor made me turn it off very quickly. He has some great revolvers though. |

I still have not found a semi that will chamber much less take the pressure that my 454 Casull dishes out. |

I know he was being sarcastic. But he was being sarcastic to make a point(s). One of which is that revolvers are accurate.
They are getting better with having semis take huge rounds and now the jam rate is so unbelievably low, there are less reasons to have a revolver than ever. Cost and ease of ownership being high. Not to offend anyone, but I consider revolvers a great woman's self-defense gun.
My mom had one growing up when dad went out of town. It had the hammer inside the gun so it couldn't get caught or stuck on anything. Just point and pull that trigger until whatever is over there is dead or gone.

Sarchasm = the gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

It was funny and I enjoyed it. However it never has been about the weapon but about the man and the tactics he employs with the weapon being secondary. Because a good man with a revolver or even a bolt action Enfield 30-06 can certainly give a very good account of himself. Case in point, Sergeant Alvin York, one of my all time heros...

A revolver doesn't scatter brass all over the place that you have to pick up before you flee.

I appreciate lots of semi-automatic pistol designs. I own a Glock & rather enjoy it. I really enjoy shooting friend's 1911s, Sigs & Beretta/Taurus autos.
With that being said I only own 1 semi-automatic & really don't plan on any more in the near future.
I absolutely LOVE revolvers! Something about them just puts a smile on my face far larger then the autos do. I do plan on several more in the near future! Particularly looking at a S&W model 60 .357 magnum, & a Ruger Blackhawk Convertible ( most likely a distributor exclusive model) in .45Colt/ACP. Just saving funds at the moment! |
