M1A gunsmith

+1 for Isaac McCaskill. I had the pleasure of working with him during an armorers class last year. He now does my and my friends M1A and Garand work. He is very qualified and a great guy. He is very busy now. I think he handles the Navy rifle team M14's and some other folks stuff.

Just finished a great session w/ Hook Boutin tuning my Scout--a very accessible, knowledgeable gentleman and we were able to take it out from the shop right then and there to make sure all was functioning properly. Quality workmanship and very, very reasonable w/ an added benefit of getting exposed to some of his many years of knowledge--a class guy. Soon as I get an excuse, am going back to see him.

Keith Morris (who is All American Amory) was recommended to me by Lou of LRB in 2003 when LRB's receiver first came out. Was looking for a N.Y. Garand smith and that's who he told me to call, could kick myself for not buying one of twenty something M14 receivers on display then. Keith has done Garand and M14 work for me and I've been very pleased with the quality of his work, being done on time and a price more reasonable by the more advertised guys, ran his business word of mouth before Lou put his name up on the LRB site. Best time to call/talk is after supper time, tell him Larry recommended him. He use to due work for LRB in finishing and parkerizing from what I remember, may still.

Ron Smith (Smith Enterprise, Inc.) was recommended to me by Lee Emerson (Different) back in 2004 when I decided
that I wanted more than a Springfield MK14 Mod 0 look alike. Smith Enterprise, Inc. (SEI) is very busy building M14s for
our Warriors fighting TGWOT, but from time to time Ron accepts work from civilians.

SEI does incredible work. Fit and finish are excellent, triggers are awesome and the performance is battle proven.
I have had two MK14 rifles built on Norinco receivers and I am about to send two Polytechs in RRM stocks off to SEI for
the Crazy Horse SDM treatment. Give Ron a call if SEI sounds like the M14 builder for you and tell him Kevin sent you.

HTH and good luck ~

+1 for Warbird

Hopefully he will have time to complete 2 more builds for me when the TFL receivers are distributed.

Regarding Mr. Tim at warbirds

I recently had the displeasure of dealing with him.
Over the course of 3 months and over a dozen emails I was wanting him to do my bolt conversion.
Throughout this time his responses were disinterested at best.
Having asked at least5 times for a shipping address and contact # I was repeatedly ignored. Finally my last email ( that being the only means of contact he provides) I simply asked 1 last time for that information.
Also stating that if he wasn't interested in doing the work , for whatever reason, then that was fine...
I shortly received a call from a PRIVATE # and it was Tim.
Who proceeded to gripe me out over the language and content of my emails.
All of which was completely polite and professional.

I refuse to do business with anyone who is secretive about being contacted and most importantly anyone who would bitch out a potential customer.

I will be posting these same observations on as many sites as possible so that hopefully no one else will have a negative experience like me.
