This weekends gun work.
Back in November I bought a Jap Type 99, that had a ground mum, but it had a monopod, and cleaning rod. I have another one that is clean, all matching with a matching action cover and an un-ground mum but missing the monopod, and cleaning rod. So I combined the two and now I have a good complete example, and a shooter. I bought 3 new boxes of 7.7mm Jap ammo (Graft and sons) a few weeks back in preparation for this springs shooting season.
My new British pattern (inch) receiver L1A1 rifle (Enterprise arms -Buena Vista made) (but not the new Canadian pattern C1A1 that I picked up at about the same time) had the wrong charging handle on it (non-folding G1 type), so I ordered a new USA made folding charging handle from DSA, and it came in Thursday. So I swapped it out Saturday afternoon.
Saturday morning I picked up another South African 30 round L1A1 (BREN) magazine at the Gardner Kansas Gunshow - for $40. That is the third South African 30 round mag that I have picked up in the last year or so. The mag spring is a flat leaf spring type.
Nothing on the M14/M1a front. But I am working on a Griffin and Howe mount for my M84 Scope that I picked up two years ago to fit on one of the NM rifles. I have a couple of the ATU mounts for the M14 - hence the search for a proper Griffin and Howe mount.
