Socom 2 Performance internal parts r/r reccomendations

As a M1a Socom 2 owner SA stock rifle and plan to keep it that way with no extra bells and whistles on the outside, however I been reading that, one should replace the stamped spring guide with a solid machined part for improved function. Is their any other internal part mechanisms that should be replaced for better function and durability? I appreciate the input.

Popcorn, I need popcorn!

You'll get opinions ranging from; replace every part possible with USGI, to shoot it as is.

I suggest spending some time with the rifle at the range before you begin arbitrarily changing parts because someone says to.

First get a base line of how your rifle shoots, then replace whatever you want.

Without an initial base line to go from you'll never know if a part change improved anything.

You'll need to determine if the rifle shoots better because you yourself are getting better, or did the part make it better.

I agree with wiz1997. Shoot it first. You may want to add a GI trigger and hammer along with their pins down the road . I have seen soft SAI hammers. No problems with the main parts.

I'm of the "shoot it and exchange only if necessary" opinion.

The only part I initially change on the M14 pattern rifle is the oprod spring guide. The National Match style really improves the smoothness of the cycling, which decreases wear and increases shootability.

Bula Defense guide rods are the most affordable and are excellent quality.

Myself, I would buy 2 GI extractors, an ejector with spring, and an extractor detent with spring.
Learn how to change them in the field/at range.
I would not change them till they break.
I also like the smoother operation of the NM spring guild.
