I'm back with a follow up report. Midsouth Shooters gave me a full refund and had the replacement rings and bases delivered priority-pronto. With my scope back to mechanical zero, (thanks Tonyben) I got them mounted up and checked the bore sight alignment looking down the tube, Looks like I'll only be a couple MOA off at 25 yds. I took it back apart and reassembled with blue locktite and set all screws to mfr. recommended torque values. Now all I need is a day at the range. Thanks for all the help folks, I'm glad I took the time to post up here. I've mounted several scopes in my day and never had any problems, and the only real problem here was I had the wrong bases. Lesson learned today is to double check that 'expert' advice that we sometimes get, even when it comes from trusted sources. Thanks again.
I'm still waiting on a reply from Burris as to how to re-zero my scope.......
