Seems to be harder to find (for me) now so thanks for the heads up.
As I offered earlier, I am happy to send some Lubriplate to anyone who wants - just cover the cost of the shipping...

$10 bucks of lubricate would lube up all the m14 rifles on this forum twice. It doesn't take much at all!

Lubriplate

I have never used lubriplate and I am somewhat new to the m14. I do shoot a garand and have always used Mobil one bearing grease on both...Dont know about colder weather and don't worry about that cause I aint going out in the cold..The mobil 1 is quite sticky and seems to stay put and I have a lifetime supply of it so before I kick off I will try to give a report. Lets hope it is a while cause Im just starting to have fun.

Lubriplate

Wasted Ammo,
Dont worry I have had people telling me I have issues for a long time. I am starting to embrace them. And as with most men I just hate change! And I am just not smart enough to be able to tell a difference.

You and I live in the same world then...I have severe arthritis in the L4-L5 S1 and like you stay sometime looped on the pain meds....Dr would not due surgery do to one blown and three bulging and did not want to fuze all 4 yet. Man here we are on a gun forum talking about our aches and pains like a couple of old ladies. I know God is up to something but I am starting to wonder what? One thing for sure is our backs are proof we had fun when we were young......

I found two 1lb cans of USGI rifle grease [lubriplate] at a gun show for $1 each, 1 lb is pretty much a life time supply and I use it on a lot of things.

GI issue grease is not Lubriplate it's Plastilube.

I was developed for Garands during WWII and is still a superior grease for weapons.

A reality check

All this talk about grease needs a little reality. Military quality grease is made for high volume applications and extreme changes of humidity and temperature and dirt. Battle condition are the primary reason they choose a formulation.

In our world of average shooting and careful storage practically any decent grease is ok. All this talk about this special grease or some producers high end expensive grease is a waste of money. Hell just plain old marine quality grease a $3 a tub from your local auto store is good to go.

To be honest if your not in combat and keep your rifle clean and maintained CLP is all that is needed.

Sometimes I feel like that but the ones I would give up are not the ones between now and the end...

Special grease for a rifle? I usually just get a big finger full off the hay baler hub. Once I get the pieces of grass and small gravel picked out it's good to go!
