Yeah, I've been thinking that, but not sure how that will fly. The wording of the law is vague...

A FLASH SUPPRESSOR, MUZZLE BREAK, MUZZLE COMPENSATOR, OR THREADED BARREL DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE A FLASH SUPPRESSOR, MUZZLE BREAK, OR54 MUZZLE COMPENSATOR;

Doesn't say "threaded muzzle" or where threads can start. Hell, just about every barrel is "threaded" (to screw into a receiver, etc). This law is horrible. The previous version was horrible.

Its a No Go. Not a permanent mod. Canceled the BB order.

A reliable source tells me the M14 was never considered by NY State to have a "threaded barrel" and that still stands.

Source please, There are quite a few of us here on Long Island that are concerned about having to butcher our M1A's.

Just say no

DO NOT COMPLY! If enough New Yorkers don't comply, the "safe act" will be a moot point. You have a cinstitutional right that superseeds this p.o.s so called law.. Fed trumps state.

lrb... You still need to put on a solid, "ornamental" muzzle device, although it would still be open to interpretation, but so were pinned/welded muzzle brakes on our ARs with the older law.

And this is the land of the free? Freedom,Liberty, what does that mean anymore? No threads on your barrels? Are you kidding me? I would be up all night worrying about this stuff too. Man I sure feel for you guys up there.

I wouldn't do anything just yet. Seems as though no one knows for sure yet. For all we know, a spot weld on the castle nut with a mock flash hider just like on a lot of the earlier polytechs might be sufficient. They may not even put the M1As in the same category as the "evil" black rifles.

We have had a large influx of NY business. Many of them LE. We're removing the threads on all of them.

I'm not sure of the logic behind that since:

1. Registration does not have to be done until April 2014
2. There are lawsuits challenging this.
3. A very reliable source told me that the M14 barrel was never considered threaded by NYSP.

I'll wait....
