Alignment bedding

How do you alignment bed? My barrel is not lined up properly with the stock. It is off to one side. I see some info here and there but not a step by step. Not really sure how it is done. Any help is appreciated.

Jerry,

The answer is just too long to type out here. What I suggest is you get a copy of Jerry Kuhausen's book, It can be found in different places, but here is the first one I found on google.

An alignment method.. An opinion...

Proper alignment can be achieved in a number of ways, some are better then others in my opinion.

To date, the best method requires a well constructed Stand-off Devise and the knowledge of how to use it..

The stand-off Devise, if used properly, will accomplish not only alignment but Draw pressure, one without the other is only part of the purpose of bedding.

Understanding how to bed is part of the procedure, understanding how to achieve vertical and horizontal agreement before bedding and have it there after bedding is the foundation for quality bedding.

These two issues are essential, otherwise misalignment can and will result.

To state it briefly, the top surface of the Stock Ferrule must be in horizontal agreement with the stock area of the receiver Heel when the upper assembly is placed over the Stand-Off Devise and locked into position with the Trigger Housing, After lock up, the Receive must be in Horizontal compliance with the two area mentioned if total alignment is to be expected..
