Thanks for the video! That op rod can be tricky to remove.

This worked for me when some of the other methods did not. Thanks for the tip. I was actually trying to tap the handle before I saw your video but wasn't doing it in conjunction with the screwdriver. I was just trying to push out with my hand.

Is this just by design that it is tough, or is this a manufacturing problem having to do with tolerances? Just curious.

I wish I would have seen this video yesterday morning. It would have made my day alot nicer. Just wouldn't come off for me until my fingers were quite sore. Thanks for posting

I was in the same boat. I was working in the shop on this and was in and out looking at the forums here, and on youtube for tips.

Awesome vid! I just now got around to watching it. Nice clarity too! Do you mind if I share it on my YT page?

Thanks from BagemTagem

It's only tough the first few times. After that the corners get rounded and it's really easy to remove.

Tony.

It looks just like the way Walt Kuleck and Clint Mckee have on page 18 of the m14 guide vol.2.

Not at all, it's the easiest way to get a Bolt out without taking the rifle apart. I swapped Bolts a number of times at the range for people who were having bolt problems back in the early 80's... there was a reason and not worth addressing since the problem doesn't exist anymore.

I certainly hope you checked headspace on those rifles...

I'm guessing you're referring to the bolt recall back in the day? They still pop up now and then, think a guy got a rifle with one just a couple months ago. Still a problem, even today.
