Not sayin' it's right, but I think they get around it because it's public records. Just like how they publish real estate sales in the paper.

I just looked it up, There were 66 murders in the bourgh of Manhattan last year. Those 6 people with handguns must have been busy...

Guys, I'm afraid you're stuck with this problem. The Tennessean published all the CCW holders in Middle Tennessee in 1995. Public records can be published with no recourse. My home was burglarized less than ten days later. They didn't get any firearms.

Public records can be published, but that doesn't mean they should be. Sometimes the media takes the first amendment too far. I wonder how the staff of that paper would react if their names and addresses were published online for the entire world to see.
