Not sayin' it's right, but I think they get around it because it's public records. Just like how they publish real estate sales in the paper.

Guys, I'm afraid you're stuck with this problem. The Tennessean published all the CCW holders in Middle Tennessee in 1995. Public records can be published with no recourse. My home was burglarized less than ten days later. They didn't get any firearms.

Public records can be published, but that doesn't mean they should be. Sometimes the media takes the first amendment too far. I wonder how the staff of that paper would react if their names and addresses were published online for the entire world to see.

There I fixed that for you !

Well, let's find someone to find and publish the names and addresses of all the media employees and politicians in NY state.

Public record right?

"Kelly said intelligence is most helpful in these cases since shooters can cause multiple deaths in seconds regardless of how deft the police response."

A little excerpt from that article posted by jerry 090. Considering the police would only be able to form a theory, with little concrete evidence if the person of interest actually intends to commit any crime, let alone attempt to kill a mass amount of people, and they would most likely have a difficult time determining where there crime will be committed. I wonder what else could be an effective response...maybe armed, law-abiding citizens would also be very effective.

They kept trying to publish name of CHL holders here in Oregon under open records laws. The County Sheriffs kept fighting it. Finally state law was passed to keep the records confidential.
