New assault on il gun owners

The below is from the Illinois State Rifle Association news letter:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

URGENT ALERT:
CHICAGO MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL LAUNCHES NEW ATTACK ON YOUR RIGHTS

On Thursday, February 9th, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel called for the Illinois General Assembly to pass a $65 per handgun fee to be levied against every law-abiding gun owner in Illinois – INCLUDING YOU. Of course, gang bangers, murderers, robbers and rapists are exempt from the fee. This fee would be charged every 5 years on every handgun you own. Additionally, you would have to register with the government in the same manner as sex-offenders.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU

If Rahm Emanuel’s gun tax passes, you will be required to pack up your handguns and take them to the local police station for examination and registration. If you have 10 handguns to bring in, you’ll walk out paying $650 in taxes. If you own 100 handguns, the government will lighten your wallet to the tune of $6,500. And, you’ll have to repeat this process every 5 years – unless Emanuel and his buddies in the legislature bump this up to an ANNUAL FEE.

WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THE TAX?

If you cannot pay the $65 tax on EACH of your handguns, you will have to surrender your guns to the local police for destruction.

WHAT IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO PAY THE TAX?

If you decide not to pay the tax, the police will come to your house and take your guns away. They will also arrest you and charge you with a CLASS 2 FELONY.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP STOP THIS HANDGUN TAX IN ITS TRACKS?

1. Using the link below, contact your State Senator and State Representative and politely tell them that you are a law-abiding Illinois firearm owner who does not want their rights taxed. Tell your Senator and Representative that you expect them to vote AGAINST Rahm Emanuel’s gun tax should it come to the floor of the legislature.

2. Please pass this alert on to all your gun-owning friends and family, tell them to follow the directions contained in the alert.

3. Please post this alert to any and all Internet Blogs or Bulletin Boards to which you belong.

4. Go to the City of Chicago web page and fill out this form. Tell Emanuel that you will NOT LET HIM TAX YOUR GUNS.
http://webapps.cityofchicago.org/efo...eedbackForm.do

5. Please use the donation link below to send a generous donation to the ISRA, today. We badly need the money to continue to fight against Emanuel and his gun-grabbing pals. Think about it:
would you rather send your money as taxes to Emanuel, or donate to the ISRA?!

I think this could be knocked out as a clear cut 2nd amendment case.

What happens if I lived in Illinois but decided to sell all of my guns to other citizens? I guess I wouldn't have any guns to register or in my house anymore....which would be too bad.

Bill of sale? Nope, just cash transactions, sorry officer.

When happenstance happened, lying to an officer would be added to the charges.
If you live in illannoying and have any aspirations of freedom, you should move.

I definitely do not live in Illinois.

I'm not sure what would be worse, lying to an officer or losing my guns to the jack boots. So you register your guns, now they know exactly what you have. Then other laws are passed in the future...for collective safety of ALL of us...of course. Now they have a list of what you own, and expect you to turn in everything listed.

Now what?

Both, with being incarnated and/or killed would be worse.
"They" might know more than we would like, especially when we hang out on gun forums.
Resist, the best you're able.

They are using the Chicago Mayor to promote legislation like this if it passed it would go nationwide. Obviously there is NO connection from the Chicago Mayor and the white house!

They did the same under Clinton and the now deceased former Governor of Maryland, clinton even showed up at the Md legislature to promote more of Maryland's awful gun laws.

Meanwhile drugs soak America and at least 12million illegal aliens are where?

Apparently destroying the 2nd Amendment along with the rest of our Constitutional rights are more important!

Meanwhile no oil pipeline from Canada whose prime minister is off courting China,we don't facilitate oil discovery/production or new refinery's. The administration is on record wanting higher natural gas and oil prices to facilitate the bankrupt battery car industry that keeps going only on taxpayer money.

If they are going to take on Catholics over the health care law do you think they will ever let go of their campaign to destroy the 2nd Amendment or the Constitution.

The first post was from the Illinois State Rifle Association...

THIS Link is to the PRO-Gun Control Side...

http://www.examiner.com/city-hall-in...posed-illinois

It's just a Bill to bring the rest of the State of Illinois in line with Chicago!

It's just 'common sense gun legislation...'

It will give Law Enforcement 'essential information', reduce illegal gun transfers, and create a FAIR system of accountability for gun owners!

A STATE Law...like this...requiring Handgun Owners to register their guns...JUST LIKE they register their cars...will increase the SAFETY of our residents!

It will Protect responsible gun owners by providing purchasers with Proof they are not buying a Stolen Gun!

And on and on...

STRANGE As It May Seem To Some...

THIS is..."Under The Radar"!

Because as most of us know, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel WAS Obama's Chief of Staff...
IF...He can successfully push this bill(currently undergoing review...will BE FILED in the coming weeks)through the Illinois Legislature...
THIS will become a National Model...A Template...For Anti-Gunners To Push In ALL STATES!!!

Rahm Emanuel And HIS Bill...Are A 'Stalking Horse' For The Nation!

This Bill Is Going To Get A Lot Of Attention From The NRA and every other Gun Owners Group!

Forewarned Is Forearmed ! (pun intended! )

Just MY Take On It...

Cool

Definetly encroachment on the Second Amendment, Not only calls for registration, but for registration and the taxing thereof. If this passes, it will have National implications. dozier

That alone would get you in trouble in IL. Bills of Sale are a must. They even state the seller must keep a record of the transaction with photocopies of the buyer & seller's FOID card for a period of ten years.
This is just another example of Chicagoland trying to force feed it's restrictive gun laws down the rest of the state's throat. This legislation hopefully won't pass. Unfortunately when the Chicagoland Reps put their unified minds behind something there is a good chance it will pass. It would be a draconian measure. Registration is probably the worst thing that a State can demand. Many say it is the first step in confiscation. I know I certainly wouldn't register or pay a unconstitutional tax that infringes on my 2nd Amendment rights. I also think that every handgun in IL that is owned prior to the bill becoming law would have to be grandfathered in & thus exempt from the tax.
As to the law enforcement coming to your home to arrest you: I IL you need your FOID card to buy, own, transport or in any way possess firearms & ammunition. They may have record that you hold a FOID, but they won't know what kind of firearms you own. They in turn would need a warrant to search your home for handguns. Do you know how many households contain firearms in IL? That is a ton of warrants, which I would like to think the Judges wouldn't want to sign.
There is a consensus from the non-Chicago areas of IL that the counties touching the lake should become the state of Chicago & the rest of IL can set the state right. I used to live in Northwestern IL. I ended up moving 16 miles away to IA. So much more freedom in my state of approx 4 million over IL. We are working on getting castle doctrine installed as law, thus removing any need to retreat from a threat. In IL if a criminal hurts himself while breaking into your house he can sue you from prison, & win compensation.

Voting with your feet and IL

Caterpillar Says It Will Not Build New North American Plant in Illinois
The Fruits of Liberal Policy–

(Illinois Policy Institute)

A stunning new report by the Illinois Policy Institute revealed how Illinois lost one resident every 10 minutes during the past fifteen years. As Illinois lost residents to migration the state also lost out on a net of $26 billion in taxable income to out-migration from 1995 to 2010.

Now this…
Caterpillar Inc. announced that it would not be building its new North American plant in Illinois.
Finance reported:

Caterpillar Inc. will not be building its new North American plant anywhere in the state of Illinois, officials with the company told local leaders Tuesday, with part of the reason being continued concerns about the business climate in the state.

The company will instead focus on a location closer to its division headquarters in Cary, N.C., Peoria County officials were told in an email sent to them shortly after the close of business and later obtained by the Journal Star. The plant stood to bring with it from Japan roughly 1,000 jobs manufacturing track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators.

Peoria County had submitted a regional proposal for the facility at the end of last year, and the Galesburg area also had a proposal on the table for the manufacturer. Peoria’s proposal reportedly included economic incentives as well as a promise of a legislative effort to establish a tax increment financing district to benefit the company.

At its core, Caterpillar’s decision reflects some concerns its officials had previously expressed about the economic condition of the Land of Lincoln.

“Please understand that even if your community had the right logistics for this project, Caterpillar’s previously documented concerns about the business climate and overall fiscal health of the state of Illinois still would have made it unpractical for us to select your community for this project,” the letter reads in part. “Caterpillar intends to continue calling for long-term changes in Illinois and to offer help to the state as it works toward real and fundamental reforms that will position communities like yours to compete for future projects.”
