Bamban,

I have some Native American Ancestry, but I sometimes have to remind even NA's that they were ALSO immigrants when going back far enough in history. There is no evidence human life began here, but rather all humans came here from somewhere else. Instead of using the term "Native Americans" or "American Indians," I believe a more correct description is "First Americans."

I celebrate ALL of the GOOD people who have come here as immigrants from ten or twenty thousand years ago to those waiting to come into the country legally today.

Thanks from Xsail

Yep, they ain't any more native than I am and there isn't a tribe that didn't fight and take territory from other tribes. That's the cool thing about our DOI and Constitution, it was crafted by men who understood human nature probably better than any single group since the New Testiment. Those that want it to evolve with the times are ignoring the fact human nature hasn't changed in 5000 years nor is it likely to in the next 5000. Capt Wa, Gus deserves the kind words, he's driving the bus.......O.L.

IMO, this is one of the most understated truths of all time.

However I have really been stewing over that Hillbilly comment. Some of the finest people I know, would be considered Hillbillies. They actually wear the moniker with pride. I count many of those "hillbillies" among my closest friends. They are self reliant and industrious people. If the "Shite ever hit the fan" you would be lucky to have them by your side.

Being from the Deep South myself "Louisiana" and traveling quite a bit. I know how the "Southerners" (LA, MS, AL) are perceived by the East and West coasters.

I bet folks from Los Angles hate it when they hear:

"from Seattle to San Diego what's not Fruits or Nuts are Flakes" or calling them LEFT coasters.

I would imagine this could upset some conservative people from Washington, Oregon, and California. Is name calling deserved on their part, no more than Hillbilly used in a derisive way is. The difference is the Hillbilly or Southerner are far less likely to voice their opinion, even though that's what a lot of us think of the West Coasters.
As a fellow Southerner, I have to concur with the above statement. Although I consider my self a "Southern Gentleman", the fact is that is simply a fine title for someone who is a "Well-read-Neck" i.e. educated but still loyal to my roots and my culture...
