I worked at Bass Pro Shops in Denver while I was in school. It always amused me how amazed transplants from TX (there was no shortage of them) were at how "lax" CO's gun laws are compared to TX. That being said, I don't think that TX is a bad place to be gun rights wise. I just don't think it's the best (neither is CO). I am also insanely jelous of their feral pig population!!! I read something the other day that said "I refuse to believe that corporations are an entity until the state of Texas executes one" That is awesome! On a personal note, I will be relocating to Wyoming soon, I don't know but would assume their gun laws are pretty laid back. I will miss living at 10,000ft though :(

I'm not so sure all these Ranchers down here would like them there words. LOL

We have a ton of them, just on a 30 mile stretch the other day going to a jobsite, I saw 3 of them nasty things laying on the shoulder. I daydreamed a bit mowing them things down with 7.62. It pays to know people around here, I'm heading out within the next week or two to blast away at these things.

I open carried when I worked in uniform, but I think for off duty LEO's and citizens, concealed carry is a better choice.
Yea, I'm not a fan of open carry myself. You're a nice soft target if somebody really wants to get your piece.

Much prefer concealed carry, which is fine here in AL. Nobody needs to know I'm packing.

Kentucky has had Constitutionally protected open carry since 1792, we have "shall issue" CC permits, and state preemption on gun laws. There is also a law on the books to protect people's right to carry in their vehicle no matter where they are parked. Right now there is a movement to do away with the CC permits and to amend the state Constitution to protect hunting.

The only short falls are that we still have some silly armor piercing ammo laws on the books from the 1990s and I would like to see more latitude in the self defense realm like Texas has.

Here in KY I rarely see anyone openly carrying a firearm that isn't involved in some sort of outdoor activity. The only times I open carry is when I am fishing or in some instance hunting or walking where I might encounter feral dogs.

I can see where open carry might be looked at as making someone a target (although I'm not sure about the soft target comment), therefore I am not in favor of these open carry laws that require some piece of your firearm be visable. But, what I would like to do away with is the need to be entirely concealed at all times. More clearly, I think it is crap that I am considered to be brandishing a weapon if the grip of my pistol gets hung on my t-shirt or the holster is visable below my jacket. I have several pistols that would be suitable for carry and protection if I didn't have to be hyper-sensative to whether or not my holster is visable in any way shape of form.

I try to keep concealed at all times... when I don't feel that I can accomplish this, I usually don't carry. In the winter I have more options because I'm usually wearing more layers... but it is very hard in the heat of summer. Now tell me what is more dangerous... being armed and possibly not totally concealed at all times or not being armed at all? Either way, the law works against the good guy, again.

I can assure you of this... anyone who is well practiced and carrying their pistol... fully concealed or not... is NOT a soft target. Marked? Maybe. Soft? No way.

I love the great state of Texas! I do enjoy going into New Mexico. They have open carry. When I visit my Uncles ranch it is interesting to walk into a store and see "open carry" in action.
