Yes, that was fun. Mind you, I'm envious of the lucky Leathernecks who get to play with those marvelous toys!
Best!

How are the Model 240 G's working out? When I transferred from 1st Marine Division in 1994, we had not gotten them in yet.

Unfortunately, they have already been replaced with the Bravo which is a heavier version with rails and a hand guard as seen in the bottom of the first pic. The rails are to mount IR lasers/lights and I've even seen one guy with a flashlight mounted on the end of his, but I don't think he knew what he was doing. It's not like you're going to shoulder one and clear a building with it.
Personally, I loved the Golf because I see the hand guard as unnecessary as well as the rail system for the most part. The 240 Bravo hovers just under 30 lbs while the Golf was closer to 24 or 25 if I remember correctly. That's 5 pounds of ammo I could be carrying instead of 5 pounds of gear queer star trek BS. The only good improvement to the bravo is the hydraulic buffer that they've thrown in.

The more I watch the military the older I feel.
Gone are my woodland cammies and black cadillacs, gone is my M1911 (well it was actually on the way out when I was in boot camp), gone is my familiar M60E3. gone is my 782 gear and familiar Alice.
I wouldn't recognize a radio anymore....a sing what?
Well at least they didn't go with stupid berets like the army.
I did see some of the FN MG's in the M60 tanks but I never fired one.
Time is marching on!

I have been hoping that every Chief of Staff since Shinseki would s**t-can that stupid thing, but they must be worried about stepping on another ring-knocker's toes.

Agree Nicolas, making troops wear a Beret, " Because it will motovate them". Wore one as Paratrooper for long time, and yeah they are useless. PC much better.

I don't know if the USMC is getting them, but the Army is beginning to replace the MK19 MOD 3 with the MK47. The best thing about this replacement is that it weighs almost half of what the MK-19 weighs. You can read more about it at http://www.gdatp.com/Products/PDFs/MK47.pdf.

I never wore one and never will. I would jion the Marines if I were 18 again just not wear that silly thing.
My MOS was 63S and NOT 11B so I never wanted a beret.

Never cared for it either. I remember the official donning day, my morale meter did nothing. More of a pain, especially in the motorpools down south, but gotta do what you're told

Some of the earlier ones have uncanny resemblences to flashlights. But it's a class IV laser that can illuminate a target from over a mile away. Comes with a skin hazard too...

One difference between the Golf and the Bravo is the number of settings inthe gas regulator. We got a couple Bravos in when we had to replace a couple Golfs and they only had one gas regulator setting. I don't know why they did that.
But recently I talked with someone who had a bravo with 3 settings, but I think the Bravo could be coming standard with only 1.

Best! | ...but not the Marines that get to clean them!!!
i was a Jarhead but i have to say out of respect for the Rangers and everything that fighting force represents i consider it pure CRAP that they now hand out black berets to every soldier that finishes basic
what a way to piss on history. imo it would be like giving a double bubble to everyone who jumped off the high dive and swim qual'd in boot camp.
