It remains to be seen if this weapon truly replaces the M2. From what I've heard there are issues in the sandbox with adequate training on the weapon which is causing a lot of accidents. Another poster above alluded to this plus lack of support. Really, it doesn't take a great deal of effort to learn the gun.
I own an M2 and have been shooting them for the better part of 30 years. My current gun is a High Standard made in 1943 and registered as a dewat during the amnesty. It runs like a scalded dog. HOWEVER. After EVERY outing with it (usually not less that 1K rounds) I break it down, clean it and do PM.
Most of the problems I have seen, at least in civilian-owned guns, was either operator error or ammo related.
