Sound Surpressor: NFA question

Greetings,

Part of the NFA laws regarding full auto firearms states that you must advise ATF (guess this really means to get permission) via a specific form prior to taking the weapon out of the state in which you reside and where it is registered for a temporary trip (provided of course that it would be legal in the state where you are going). Does the same regulation apply to sound suppressors? Thanks!

Regards, Jim

Dunno...

http://www.guntrustlawyer.com/form20.html

that doesn't mention suppressors, FWIW.

Don't take my word for it, however.

This is copied verbatim from the back of the Form 4:

"Interstate Movement: If the firearm identified in item 4 is a machinegun, short-barreled rifle, short-barreled shotgun, or destructive device, the registrant may be required by 18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(4) to obtain permission from ATF prior to any transportation in interstate or foreign commerce."

Suppressors and AOW's require no special paperwork for interstate transport.

Just bring a copy of your form 4 and your good to go.

The Form 5320.20 is what is submitted prior to interstate transport of the title II firearm. This does not apply to AOW or silencers.

Not to be construed as legal advise...worth every penny paid for it.
