MAS APX L806 Scope & Mount

I have a great MAS 49/56 rifle. It was built in 1962. This particular rifle is still in 7,5 FR and never re-arsenal built. Great shape (you can insert a French military joke here if you must).
I am looking for an original APX L806 scope and mount for this rifle. I have had an interest in French rifles for a long time.
I had a relative who fought for the Free French Forces in WWII & after the war could not assume to normal life. He joined the French Foreign Legion and went off to Indo-China and was never heard from after operation Castor (Battle of Dien Bien Phu). When my grandmother told me this before her death when I was 14, (she said the loss of a brother broker her heart), left a lasting impression.
Since that time I have become a serious collector of French weapons.
Any ideas where to search other then Gunbroker and just a random yahoo search would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

So the relative who lost his live in Indo-China was your grandmother's brother. Can you give us any more details about him? Date and place of birth, etc?
Also, any pics of your rifle would be nice to see. Good luck in your quest.

Thank you for you encouragement. My grandmother came over after the war when she met her husband and my grandfather, a glider co-pilot. (war bride) Married for 40+ years.

My grandmothers brother (one of 8 siblings), a traditional Catholic family joined up around 1939 (or rather mass mobilization in France due to invasion). His name was Charles. They were from the Metz area, the Alsace-Lorraine region - where Joan of Arc originated.
My grandmother passed away before I was really old enough to know more it. I have relatives in France who know a little, but they do not discuss it. They just know in 1954, the Legion sent the next of kin a letter stating he was MIA. They assumed is was Dien Bien Phu since it was all over the press in France. - I really wish I had this letter.

I am not sure if he changed his name in the Legion or kept it. I do have a picture of him in June 43' in his Free French uniform holding a STEN sub machine gun.

I will try and take a picture of my MAS 49/56. I do not have any at the moment.

That is a very interesting piece of history. Do try to find out all you can before others who know more pass away and take their stories with them. Keep us posted.

French APX Scope's

You will find them occasionally on Ebay and Gunbroker but be aware that price's have gone up considerably.

I could hit my father for buyers remorse. He had the chance to buy a scope with the rifle, but for an extra $200 it was too much at the time. I understand his reasons. I was playing ball at the time and he needed the money. Good parenting. It would have been a good investment at the time.
The average price I can find for a usable scope is $550+. Way out of my price range at the moment for a struggling graduate student. You never know what I could find at a gun show or yard sale ect.

Thanks.
