Another FAL for the collection.

I just bought a clone C1A1 that is built on a Enterprise inch receiver. Maybe I paid too much for it, but it is going to be mine as soon as it gets here. I got it off of Gunbroker, so next Tuesday/Wednesday or so... It was the best one I could find that was built off of the Enterprise inch pattern receiver that I like. This will be number 6 so far for the FALs for me. Three years of collecting the FALs, and six FAL rifles so far. Most are the clone Inch pattern Australians (A Paupa New Guinea shorty L1A1, and a early first pattern wood stock L1A1 version with a SUIT sight, and a later plastic (Maranyl) stocked L1A1 version), others are a inch pattern Brit with the plastic (Maranyl) stocked L1A1 version, and a metric Austrian STG58 with steel hand guard, and bipod. I also have a 30/06 Luxembourg SAFN49 which is the predecessor to the FN FAL, so my main battle rifle collecting is going well. I plan on a display some day for these rifles, like what I have done for the M14/M1A's that I own. I need a T48 pattern, a G1 pattern, and a New Zealand one, and I think that will suffice for my collecting desires, but who knows.

Thanks from tnw50cal, cjjtulsa, nf1e and 3 others

Love the FALs, and I'd like to get my hands on an SAFN49 myself. I'm always watching for FAL deals - rifles, mags - whatever. Could use another example or two of G3 clones, too.

FN49

The FN49 was $500 about 5 years ago, so I just had to buy it.

Stupid Gunbroker. Another one of the L1A1 rifles came up for sale on Gunbroker. This one is also a Enterprise Arms "Buena Park" receiver, specially made in British inch pattern, and again with the later plastic (Maranyl) stock. I had put in a low ball bid earlier today, and I got it.

You have to watch the Izzy's HB barrels, as I have seen more than a few with trashed barrels.

What's " a specially made in British inch pattern" mean ?

I was looking at that one and blew up the picture to see if the receiver was British inch cut . It looks Aussie inch cut just like all the inch cut Enterprise receivers I've ever seen.

Did you get some better pics then the ones posted ?

It was still a great price even if Aussie cut. I should have bid on it.

Generally speaking the DSA inch receivers are considered to be of the Australian cut type, and the Enterprise Buena Park address inch receivers are machined to the British spec. DSA just made a special run (120 or 180 - I can't remember) of the British spec receivers in July. Even the lettering matches. The inch pattern Enterprise Buena Park address receiver is made to the British spec. The Canadian C1A1 rifle is made to the Brit spec, and the C1A1 semi auto that I have coming has the inch pattern Enterprise Buena Park address receiver - It was clear in the pictures.
But I have heard reports of early inch pattern with the Enterprise Buena Park address receivers that were cut to the Ozzy pattern. I just never seen one.

The inch pattern Enterprise with the Irindale address receivers are trouble some to build as the fit and finish are "lacking" on these later dated ones. The Buena Park receivers are generally considered to be the best Enterprise FAL receivers and are on par with the DSA made receivers.

Here is a picture from the web detailing the "brit" machining spec.

And no I did not get pictures, but I have never seen an inch pattern Enterprise Buena Park receiver that was not made to the British spec. The ad stated it was a inch pattern Enterprise Buena Park receiver, so I just assumed it was the "special" brit pattern.

" I have never seen an inch pattern Enterprise Buena Park receiver that was not made to the British spec."

You mean like these 2. [ These are not mine ]

I have 2 Enterprise inch receiver rifles. One is Buena Park marked and the other has the " ABNI " mark above the locking shoulder [ Buena Park ]. They both are Aussi cut the like the below pictured.

I asked the seller to provide some close up pics, but he didn't respond. That's the reason I didn't bid. I was looking for an inch rifle with the Brit cut receiver.

Either way, you got that rifle for a great price.

Wood sets (grip, stock and handguards) for commonwealth/inch L1A1s come up for sale quite often on FAL Files. Here is a very nice set.

http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=411423

Wood for metric can be found as well but prices vary depending on the type of stock. Original metric wood handguards are rare and expensive. Repros are expensive as well.

Repro metric set.
