Agreed - and forward flight uses a good deal less power than hovering.

I flew Hueys in the Air Force for seven years as pilot, instructor, and chief of stan-eval.

To me the pilot hanging back was spot to keep the driver constantly having the helicopter in his line of sight. Let's him relax a little bit, slow down and not kill a bystander. Things we used to do here.

CAVman,

Great video; have you managed to locate an index of some sort for this series of videos? I'd like to see more of these 'one off' movies.

I'm sure that truck driver was 'relaxed' with those three police vehicles behind him...

And, Oh, yeah...Don't Want To Kill Any Bystanders! Hmm...Might Want To Re-Think Some of those 7.62 x 51 Rounds Bouncing Around the Streets!

No, I haven't...but there could be one out there somewhere!

I see quite a view from 1st Cav web-sites and from various VN Vet Friends and Vet web-sites, but I've never tried to 'organize' them...

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Very respectfully, there is not a police vehicle in frame, after the second round about until the suspect's vehicle stops. The rifleman is pretty selective about what is on the other side of the street, save the last shot. The grey car head on to the suspect's vehicle was tight, but he stopped when it came into his sight picture.

I think both the pilot and the shooter done a fine job.

With Brazil especially, I don't think I'd use the term perp quite so easily.

Thanks from Douglas Haig

I see what you did there...

'Not a police vehicle IN FRAME, after the second round about until the suspect's vehicle stops.'

Well, All-Righty Then!

If the POLICE VEHICLES were not IN THE FRAME of the Chopper's Camera...there was therefore No Way The Perp could have possibly seen those Three Cop Cars Following Him!
In Fact, The Perp was truly Amazed when after his truck was stopped---those Three Cop Cars Suddenly Appeared OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Thanks...GOT IT!

I see what I did was watch the video objectively, and read what a few of the pilots/aircrew said

Shooters motives could have been that ground pursuit was loosing him as well? I don't know.
