Agentina is replacing their metric FALs with Italian made ARX 200 7.62 rifles for general issue.

Wasn't that long ago the Turks rejected it as well.

8.6 pounds unloaded. 1.6 pounds loaded magazine totals 10.2 pounds. Their GIs will need some extra push-ups.

Picked up a Socom at a gun shop today, . . . plastic stock, . . .

Felt good, . . . like my loaded better, . . . but for CQB, . . . I could see that as a good option.

I'd rather have it than this "plastic fantastic" thingamajig.

May God bless,
Dwight

Good insurance for what may come...They have their kind of combat over there, and in a future SHTF scenario we will have another kind, CQB will be a part of it for us I believe unfortunately. I never heard of that Italian rifle but at least it's in 7.62x51, like your new Socom.

Looking good.
7.62 x 51 gets the job done when your target is other than paper.

Dwight55, your problem is that you are "old school" just like most of us here. Can't beat wood and iron even if plastic maybe lighter!

Makes sense they already run 7.62 with the FAL. Must of got a helluva deal with Beretta to produce both rifle and px4 pistol.

Maybe it's ergonomics are good but I don't like the looks of it either.

Gentlemen, I have a strong attraction to rifles chambered for the 7.62 NATO cartridge. That being said, I recognize the advantages of the M4A1 carbine. It can not fill all roles but it is a good general purpose rifle especially if Mk318 or Mk262 ammo is used. The current M4A1 and some of the new enhanced performance ammo are not your father's M16 and M193 ammo (or for some of us, our original M16). Rick

Around a decade ago there were para FAL parts kits being sold on the FAL files board. They came in minus the barrels since Argentina considers the barrel the MG.
