C39 v2 range report

Took my new Century Arms Magpul furniture AK to the range and couldn't get it to not shoot straight, I returned it to the shop where I bought and they are sending it back. I'm not 100% sure it was the rifles fault though in retrospect, it shot waaayyy right and I might not have moved the front sight in the right direction to fix it....but I don't know that would have made much difference considering how far it was shooting to the right before I messed with it.
Anyhow, the gunsmith at the shop said that the barrel looked a little bent.....but we'll see what the verdict is when Century Arms receives the rifle.

Update: Just picked up the rifle Saturday from the LGS. Century reported that the front sight was canted, and that they fixed the issue, and polished up the loading ramp and test fired it with 30 rounds. So it is good to go!
Now I just need to get it to the range and test it for myself! I'm excited about this rifle again!! Will let you all know how it shoots!

Thanks from Tommo

WOW> Sorry to hear that. I picked up one of those a couple of months ago; shot like it was on rails, so to speak.Point of impact/aim agreed at 20 meters out of the box using Wolf Military Classic ammo. SO refreshing after a couple of ATI underfolders ( the first was so bad, it was sent back; they sent a new one to replace it. The next one was much better, got the sights to agree with point of impact without much difficulty. Still a Yugo, though ). The C39v2 is heavy in it's use of cast parts, but I'm not so well off that I can afford to shoot it to pieces to have an idea of how long they last.

Don't feel bad, Century has a horrible reputation. Did the barrel actually appear to be bent, or was the FSB canted? I've seen them with RSB/Gas block/FSB all indexed a little off from each other.

The barrel and front and rear sight blocks on my C3v2 were some of the straightest that I've ever seen on an AK. I sold the gun in order to fund another purchase, but that gun was almost perfect zeroed at 100 yards right out of the box.

One trick that I've used several times in the past to check the alignment of the front and rear sight block when inspecting an AK before purchase is to remove the gas tube, sit the rifle upside down on a level surface, and then try to slide a piece of paper under the both blocks. As long as the paper doesn't slip underneath either one all the way, they two block should be aligned well enough to zero the gun without gross movement of the front post.

You can also tie a thin piece of string to the front post and then run it back to the rear leaf to see if it remains straight but I think that the "paper" test works best.

At 100 yds this thing shot about a foot or more to the right, and very high, I BARELY could get it on the paper. I didn't have the tool to adjust the front sight up or down, but that would have been okay if I could have corrected the the shooting "right" part. Out of the box, this thing wasn't even close.

WOW! I got lucky, Purchased 2 CAI AK's in July 1 39, 1 RAS. This month made a round count, 1,824 rnds, 1600 rnds respectively. No issues, can put rounds in 6" circle at 75 yards standing (of course with the help of a red dot, old eyes). I must have gotten the ones built on Wednesday
