Looks like some of Spielberg's early work!

That's a joke, Son.
Nice enough boy but about as smart as a wet sack of mash!

Just kidding, but you need to work on that bolt handle manipulation, the Russian's taught a slap method where you would slap the handle up with the palm of your hand.

I know the snappy removal of the AK mag looks cool, but not realistic. Also, keep the butt of the bolt rifle to your shoulder as you reload.

Good start, though! Those watermelons didn't atand a chance!

Add the Soviet National Anthem to the soundtrack... (National Hymn of the USSR...)

Государственный гимн СССР

I use the same technique on my socom when doing emergency reloads. It's the only way to make time with the ar's (like in a carbine course/competition). It's one of the short comings of rock to lock magazines.

Thanks from jbrooks

I just tried it on my M1A, I think you'd need gloves to do this with the M14 type. The trigger guard gets in the way. At least the AK has a very exposed mag release...

I use a drop pouch on my belt to hold the old mag. I just hate the idea of tossing the thing on the gound. May be OK for matches, where you can retrive the mag, but if yI'm on the move, with limited number of mags (a civilian SHTF or similar, where I don't have a logistics tail...) I like to hang on to the mags.

I see your point when going up against ar's in a course, however.

Many years ago I made some videos to evaluate my techniques and my gear. This one shows the emergency reload with extended bolt stop. I agree the magazines are very valuable and should be retained anytime possbile, however as the name of this drill implies there may be times when my skin is more valuable than the magazine.
